Today was a really nice day. Reagan slept from about 830 last night til 800 this morning. Wow. After she got up, she ate and then we quickly took off for the Cincinnati Zoo. This was the first time Reagan had been. Both Andrea and I hadn’t been in probably a decade either. It’s been a really long time. And of course “we were going for Reagan”. Ha ha. Yea – we wanted to see the monkeys and all sorts of stuff. I did completely forget how much the zoo stinks. But my allergies reminded me shortly after we got there.
We had a blast – we saw penguins hanging out, monkeys swinging, babies with their mothers, the giraffes and a ton of other cool animals. Reagan did great through the whole thing. She was able to see a lot of the stuff and just absorb it. She definetly likes to people watch. About two hours after we go there, she fell asleep for her nap. It was toasty warm out which is perfect sleeping weather for her. She clung to her little snuggly as we walked around a little more before venturing into the gift shop. What a nice time.
Tonight we headed to dinner at Max & Ermas with my parents. It’s probably been since my wedding that they had seen her. It was a nice evening with them – just hanging out.

The spider bite
Ok this is the third time this has happened to me – twice since I’ve married Jim. But I got bitten by some nasty spider. I really don’t know if it was a wolf spider, brown spider or what. Needless to say – it looks gross. After my shower this morning, Andrea noticed it on my arm. I’ve had this bite for three days now and it was definitely getting much worse. So instead of going to the zoo, we decided it was best to see if I could get in to see a doctor. I called my primary care doctor and was lectured – one for not knowing who my doctor was (I haven’t been there in over 2.5 years) and two for not calling at the right time for an emergency (I was informed that emergencies are called in by 8am – it was about 10am). So I quickly decided that I was done with them and went to urgent care. Yea. So off we went – baby, Andrea and me. We were in and out really fast – very nice. And yes it was a spider bite. They gave me Bactrim pills and ointment. Lovely.

Andrea
Andrea came in town today. Yea. We haven’t seen her in a little while – and she hasn’t seen Reagan since she was in my belly. Reagan and I went to the airport and talked about “Aunt Andrea” coming to town the whole time. We waited and waited by the escalator for her to arrive in the baggage area. When she got there, Reagan had really no problem going to her at all. It took her about 2 minutes to warm up and she was hooked. She loved Andrea from the start. She smiled and cooed. I can’t believe how easy it was.
After picking her up, we came home to hang out and wait for Jim to get home. We met Emily and Paul for dinner at Sweet Basil. Emily has taken a new job (and I have a new one) so we had decided to celebrate. It was nice having our friends together like that.

Lots of stuff
There are so many things from today that I think I’m going to bunch them all together – her hands, reaching for me, pulling her hair, a cowlick, and sucking her thumb. Oh my.
Hands – Today, when I went to get her up from her morning nap, she was quietly playing in her crib. I had heard some clanking on the turtle, but not much else. When I got up there, all I could see was her hands in the air over her crib rails and they were rotating. She was studying them. It cracked me up. She just kept moving them and flapping them over and over again.
Reaching up for me - She has started reaching for me more often. Not just from within her toys, but anytime she wants me to pick her up. She isn’t consistent yet, but she seems to be doing it much more often.
Pulling hair – she now pulls her hair in protest too (or when she’s tired). I can’t figure it out. It’s just amazing what a little personality she has and is developing. I am just having a blast watching it change.
Between the cowlick and her thumb sucking, I am really not sure which the bigger deal was. I noticed this morning that her hair had a “lift” in it. It was odd. No amount of water or lotion would keep it down. Can a baby REALLY have a cowlick?

Sleeping through the night
Well she slept through the night. I am not sure if it was the pool or the bath, but she was worn out!
Big day for a little girl
I dropped her off for a “test run” with Lynn today and she was not happy. When I dropped her off, Lynn said to “get going” but she was already crying by the time she walked away. I ran my errands and had a huge day planned, but ended up sleeping for about 2.5 hours. Apparently I needed the sleep. I called Lynn at 2:00 pm to see how she was doing and she said that she was mad. She had cried all morning and was still having trouble. Oh No! She told me to not worry and that it was normal. Hmm. I couldn’t stand that. I picked her up at 4:00 pm. When I walked around the back, Lynn and the kids were sitting outside just hanging out. Reagan was just chillin in the walker.
When I approached her, she didn’t even see me. Once she saw me, she ignored me. She didn’t even react. She just sat there and looked at me. It took her until I picked her up to “say hi”. It broke my heart. Hopefully she will do better next time.
Thumb
She was sucking on her thumb today a lot. I’ve never seen her do that. But she was successfully putting her thumb in and out of her mouth and chewing away. Wow. I hope she really doesn’t end up being a thumbsucker.

Spilling of water glass at dinner
Tonight Reagan didn’t want to just hang in her chair while we all ate. So I picked her up and sat her on the table. She, of course, reaches for everything. This means we had to “baby proof” the dinner table which sounds really funny to me. We missed something – my big water glass. It’s a 32 ounce cup that I drink out of. Well, she grabbed for it. She got it. She spilled it. ALL OVER! She wasn’t happy at all. It was cold and wet and she was not happy. But all the adults laughed.
Nectarine in the mush bag
We tried the mush bag tonight at dinner. Jim loaded up the little mesh bag up with a nectarine piece and handed it off to her. She munched on it and sucked on it and just loved it. She got very very sticky and had a ball.

My Hands! I found them
Oh my – she’s found her hands. It’s quite funny. She’ll be reaching for something and just stop and stare at her hand. She’ll rotate it around, move it up and down and just get a little spacey looking at it.
Pool for the first time
Tonight we took Reagan to the pool for the first time. We started in the kiddie pool which has a very very shallow pool only. There is a waterfall/mushroom feature which is pretty cool, but we opted not to turn that on. She was a little spooked at first, but then got used to the water. After a few minutes, we moved over to the adult pool. Jim got in with her and swam with her a little bit. We figured out she didn’t like being on her back. We stayed for about an hour and then took off.
Walker success
She’s starting to get the hang of her walker finally. It’s really cute watching her “bunny hop” down the hallway. I still have to guide her every few seconds, but she’s having a blast playing in it.
Toes
Why does she like my toes? I have absolutely no idea, but today she was fascinated with my toes. She reached for them every chance she had. When she was in her walker, she was trying to walk after them. I don’t get it – but ok!
Shopping with Mom – Day two
Today we went to NY and Company. That’s where I really wanted to go first, but didn’t. I am actually glad we did go to Macy’s first. I liked there basic stuff better there. But it was MUCH more expensive too. Oh well. I found some good stuff again. Yea Team!
Thanks for all your help mom!!

Nursery mishap
We actually got up in time to go to church – Reagan slept all night, I slept in the bed, no complications. That is until we got to church. We dropped her off at the nursery, dropped Jordan off at hers and headed off to our Sunday School classroom. Within 10 minutes, we got paged. I took off to see what was going on and I rounded the corner down the hall from the nursery and heard her wailing. Oh My! She was just crying up a storm. The poor lady really didn’t know what to do with her. She was so tired but refused to sleep. I changed her diaper and rocked her – nothing worked. Next thing I know, Jim was standing at the counter and said “not working?” or something like that. Needless to say, we decided to take her for a ride while we waited for Jordan to get done with Sunday School. As soon as we got her in the car seat and the door shut, she passed out. Wow!

No sleep again. Ugh. I was up all night with her and I think I had maybe an hour or two on the couch. I’m dragging so bad today. Papa and Gamma came over this afternoon to visit. Both the girls were happy to see them but showed it in different ways. Jordan gave kisses and hugs to Papa and Gammy while Reagan cried. She wailed. It was hilarious. She couldn’t stop crying at all. We finally put her in the ExerSaucer with a DVD on and she settled down. Papa had to get on the floor to play with her. She finally did warm up to him again right before they left. It was cute. She just kept crying and watching him the whole time. Awwww.
I took off again after I put her down for a nap to find some clothes.
Tomatos and Buns
Tonight we had burgers and salad for dinner. Since Reagan sits with us when we eat, she frequently ends up sitting on the table after I’m done eating. Tonight, I plopped her down on the couch and she promptly went for the plastic container of grape tomatoes. She picked them up, dumped them out, and tried hard to squish every one of them. Jim gave her a hamburger bun to see what she’d do with that. She ignored it at first, but eventually picked it up and shredded it with her little fingers.
Macy’s trip
I’m getting ready to go back to work unfortunately. I am getting anxious about it but figured I better figure out my wardrobe pretty soon or I’ll be going naked. Every store is having sales at any given time, so it’s just a matter of which one to go to. Mom and I chose Macy’s. They tend to have good stuff (but overpriced). I’ll look if there is a sale. I bought a ton of stuff and had a panic attack at the cash register. I hate shopping and I hate spending money on stuff even more. It just makes me sick to know that I am not quite into my old clothes… I’m only one size away. But I can’t bet on me losing that last amount of weight by August. Oh well. At least I got some really nice stuff that will let me shrink.
