Friday night temper tantrum

Oh my gosh - it was probably the funniest thing that I've seen her do yet! Reagan threw a FIT! She was so tired, but also refused to slow down to sleep. So we let her stay up and play. It was 845pm and she was playing in the corner with all her toys. I went over to "hang out" with her for a bit when she started to show signs of getting squinky. (squinky is our term for anything other than normal behavior that we don't like) Usually when she gets "squinky", she wants some attention. Tonight she did not. She sat up and started crying - but not crying - fussing. She threw her arms up and I sat back to watch the show. She stood up on her toy, fell down, pushed me away and then threw herself back on the floor! Wow! Oh my gosh. I picked her up and said "okay - sleepy time". She didn't actually go to sleep, but then she did calm down some. She stayed up Friday until 11pm only because I didn't want another tantrum. Jim said that his Dad used to just "let him go" until he passed out. I personally thought that was a good idea tonight.

P90X do or die

Ok, I have definetely lost my mind. I only have ten more pounds to lose to get to my ultimate goal weight (the weight I was when I met Jim). I have, however, lost all my baby weight and fit very well into all the clothes I was wearing before. Yea! And I must thank P90X for my success.

So now that I'm so close, my Achilles tendon decided to throw a monkey wrench into my plans. I am now wearing a boot (which most of you know) to immobilize my ankle. The doctor wants to keep the tendon from flexing and hopes that it will help heal it. We'll see.

So I thought that meant that I wasn't going to work out. I was very sad. Very very sad. Actually, I was getting depressed about it. That was until I decided "come hell or high water" (a phrase my mom used to use a lot) I was going to find a way to get it done.

Thanks to the way P90X is put together and my crazy will power, I have figured out that I can do most of each workout on the DVDs with very little modification. The cool thing about the boot is that it does keep my ankle steady. Any yoga poses or squats are done with wonderful accuracy because I literally can't bend my knee to an improper position. He hee. And even better, while I can't do that cardio, the extra weight of the boot seems to add enough challenge to make me huff and puff doing very little. Yea!

So the other night I did the "Core Synergistics" workout and realized that the flat toe area gives me such balance when doing pushups. Even Jim was helping me figure out how I could leverage "the boot". Last night, I did the Cardio routine - yes I did. Instead of the jumping up and down stuff, I just did the "Steam Engine" multiple times. Yes that is very intense.

So while I might not be getting the total workout I had been getting "before the boot", I am definetly getting a good workout in and my achilles does NOT hurt.

I guess it's true - "where there's a will, there is a way".

Thank you God!

Moo Cow

Well Reagan is really learning a lot. She has a few stuffed animals in her toybox that she can now identify. So if I ask her where her duck is, she'll get it out. How smart. Well tonight, she had her cow. It actually will make the MMMM sound. I call it her moo cow. And I guess so does she. When she would hold it, she'd say "mmm ca", over and over again. I couldn't believe it.

When Jim got home, I said hey Reagan where's your Moo Cow. She went to her toybox and got it out saying "mmm ca". HOw cute is that?

Eyeballs and books

Tonight she showed me how to turn pages of a book. Typically when I read to her, she tries to grab the book and pull it from me or turn the pages before I'm done reading. For some reason, tonight she didn't do that. I was able to read the pages and before I could start to turn the page, she reached over and turned it at just the right time. Wow. Everytime I'd take a break, she'd turn the page. WOW!!

Oh yea and she now knows where your eyeballs are. Watch out - those pokes in the eye hurt. :)

Bath time

Tonight Reagan was extremely entertaining. I stuck her in the bath tub after her dinner because she got so messy. For some reason, she thinks it's necessary to put her hands in everything and then also her hair. Hmmm. So anyway, I stuck her in the tub and she started playing with her toys. She likes to sit away from you and stick her letters on the side of the tub. When she gets enough up on the side, she'll turn around a look to make sure you are paying attention to her. And yes, I always clap and cheer for her.

She usually has one letter that she attaches to during her bath time. It used to be the letter "I". Not sure why - she just does. Well tonight, it was the letter "O". She had that thing in her mouth, making zerbert noises while splashing as hard as she could. I wish I had my camera. I would have taken a video. She splashed so much that the floor outside the tub was wet! She didn't care - she laughed so hard. She'd kept making the weirdest noises when she was splashing around all the while holding the "O" in her mouth. Weirdo. :)

When I went to take her out tonight, she cried. Poor thing. She was getting cold but really didn't care. Oh well.

I love Jordan

Jordan really makes Reagan smile. It doesn't really matter when she shows up or what mood Reagan is in - Jordan can make her smile and laugh hysterically. I think that has such a huge impact on Jordan. I enjoy it myself. I can only imagine that she does too.
Tonight, I was upstairs with her on the floor when she got home. Reagan heard her coming up the stairs and leaned into the hallway to watch for "whatever the noise was". She started laughing and bouncing when she saw Jordan. So darn cute.

Baby Einstein ball

Well she finally did it folks, she got the ball through the hole. She has tried for a week or so now. Over and over and over again. This was the last thing she had to learn on this toy.

Tonight she consistently got it in correctly and set off the music (the trigger to reward them). She was so darn happy. Every time she did it, she'd turn around and look for one of us to clap!

I was so happy I almost cried. She's so cute.

MRI

Ok folks. I now have my MRI scheduled and my second opinion scheduled. I will know after the holiday my fate. I really don't anticipate needing surgery, but thought I better figure out "officially" what I am really dealing with so I don't do something stupid. I really want to train for my 2nd degree black belt (test in March '09) but won't proceed with that until I know I can handle it.

Anyway, say some prayers for me!

Pulling off socks

Over the last month, Reagan has picked up this new habit of pulling things off (or trying to). This can be anything from her bib to her socks. On Saturday, she pulled off her socks several different times. One time, Jordan had put her socks on only to see Reagan remove both socks as soon as she turned around.

Of course, today I was reading my weekly baby update from "Ages and Stages - Parents.com" and it mentioned the following: "Babies this age often develop a thing for getting dressed and undressed -- it's just another way they're attempting to use their maturing hand skills. You may notice that your child loves pulling off her socks or diaper or may be willing to help you dress her by readily pushing her arms through her sleeves." Hmmm. Guess that's good.

The result - she now wears shoes to keep her from pulling off her socks. :)

Achilles surgery or not

So today was pretty eventful for me. I went to the ankle doctor again to figure out what was next in the process since my Achilles, while slightly better, and was not improved enough for me. First of all, he told me that my Achilles was still “very bulbous and inflamed”. Then he gave me a couple options – neither of which I was thrilled about. The first option was to wear an immobilization boot and then follow it up with some additional therapy. The second option was surgery (to reconstruct), the boot and then more therapy. Hmmmmm. I chose the boot and therapy option first.
I informed him that I had ACL surgery and really wasn’t interested in surgery because of the long and tough recovery. He agreed and said it would be about the same recovery. Ick. The only difference would be that I could not drive at all because my right ankle is the problem. Ugh. Needless to say, I am now wearing a space age boot, I am setting my appointment to get the MRI done and hopefully I won’t need surgery. Say some prayers!

Cute and Snuggly

This morning I woke Reagan up from a deep sleep so Jim could take her into LRS. Whenever I "wake her", she snuggles as long as she can. Once she realizes that she's official up and can't snuggle anymore (usually about the time her diaper change is over) she starts to cry. She did that this morning. It was all very cute. I hated to put her down on the table to get her dressed.

Once we were done, she snuggled the entire way downstairs. She saw her bottle and curled up in my lap for that. When she was done sucking it down, she leaned her head over and shut her eyes. So darn cute!!

I got dressed and put her coat on. She snuggled on that - leaning her cheek on the fake fur lining. It is very fuzzy. We put her in the car and she leaned up against her coat and held on to her cow.

It's mornings like this that I want to just stay home and snuggle with her. Can she get any cuter?

Easy day

Today was another easy day. Because Reagan was well enough to go to daycare at church, we were able to pack up and all go to church for the first time in over a month. We got everyone bundled up, packed into the car and drove off to EBC. We dropped Reagan off at her class, dropped Jordan off at the KidZone and Jim and I went to service in the sanctuary. Yea!

It was a great sermon on “Is God Mad”? It was around God’s Wrath and what it means. I really enjoyed listening to the Pastor Derek. He has an interesting style and seems to be very approachable. We like that about him. That plus he seems “real”.

Anyway, after church, the girls went with Grammy & Grampy to FirstWatch and Jim went home to watch the Bengals play on TV. Of course, during brunch, Jordan offered up “how bored” she was at church. Yea… blah blah blah… isn’t every kid bored at church? I don’t know that I ever told my parents that… or dared to. LOL.

After lunch, we went home and relaxed. The evening was pretty lazy. Jim took Jordan to basketball and I played with Reagan. After her bottle, she crawled over to her walker which meant she wanted to fly around the house. So I took that opportunity to get on the piano for a while. As soon as I started playing, she came running over and did her little rocking thing that she does when music is being played. She clapped and giggled every time I played anything upbeat. How sweet. I eventually picked her up and stuck her on my lap. She immediately started playing. She’d make two big strokes on the piano and then turn around with a huge smile on her face. Awwww.
