Make believe time

Tonight in the tub, Mom said that Reagan was playing "make believe" with her fishies. She has sea animals in her little toy box that hangs on the sides of the tub. Every once in a while, she'd pick up two of the fishes. She'd get reeeaaalllllly quiet and then start talking - holding the two fishes pointed towards each other. Of course, it was only these two specific fishes that she'd do this.
I really wish I could have seen that.

The other thing she did was play hide and seek with the toys. The mat that we sit on hangs over the tub a bit. It provides a convenient hide-a-way for little toys. She apparently would put the toys behind the covering and then look in and look at mom - just like peek-a-boo.

Pooping for Grammy and Grampy

Well, tonight my parents came over for a brief visit and to help us out a bit. They showed up for dinner and stayed until her bedtime. It was a nice short distraction.

So after dinner, they took little miss upstairs to give her a bath. The last few days, she's had issues with pooping in the tub. She did it with me two nights ago and once with Jim. So Dad asked - "is it possible?" and I said - yes. So they were on the lookout for the pooping ceremony.

They were actually in the bath for quite a while before anything happened, but soon Mom was SCREAMING for my dad. She had started the process of providing some extra floating toys in the tub. Mom was quicker than me - she actually got her out of the tub, but not quite to the toilet. She dropped one, two and three on the floor and then the last little round "ball" in the toilet. My mom was just beside herself.

Of course, when Mom told me about it, I cackled. It was awesome!

Jack in the box - done

Well, she's figured it out officially. They Jack-in-the-box toy she got for her birthday is now a piece of cake to our little one. She, of course, figured out the short cut first - that you could hit the tab on the top and release the "Jack". But then, in the last few days, she finally put the whole song together to get it to pop out. I think she could do it earlier than today, but she got bored turning the thing to get it to pop up. So she'd quit and hit the magic button. Nice. :)

I figured it out

She's figured out the shape sorter. She's been able to do it off and on for a little while now, but this morning she did it a few times in a row without much problem at all. I was totally impressed. She's getting close to having the ring stacker done too. She's done it once or twice, but not consistently yet. I"m watching and waiting.

Achilles update

Well, today was somewhat good. I did get my lovely red cast off and my stitches out. (ouch) Initially, the doc said I'd be walking in 4-6 weeks after surgery. I am figuring out rather quickly that it won't happen. The bad news today was that I am still NWB (or non-weight bearing) for another 2 weeks. ICK!!! And then, I can go to 50% WB. Ugh! I am so bummed about that. So at this point, I'm thinking I won't be full weight bearing until the end of March. How frustrating. But... I don't want that screw or tendon to come out of my foot. ICK!! Double ICK!!! At least I start therapy next week. Yea!

Keep me in your prayers.

Time to RUN

We've been watching her for about a week now and we think she's "running". She apparently runs like her namesake - Grandma Mae. She just chugs around the living room screaming "aaaaaaaaaaaaaa". As soon as you say "I'm gonna getcha" she takes off! I can't crawl fast enough to get to her.

I love my medicine

So is it weird that Reagan LOVES to take her medicine. I don't get it. The last time she had to take medicine, she fought everyone but me to take it. Now she opens up her little mouth and makes chewing movements until we give it to her... all the while going "uh, uh, uh, uh".

Just an odd bird sometime.

Dancing baby

Yes our little one year old is now dancing. Tonight, I turned on Sesame Street for a bit and there happened to be a little skit with a girl dressed in African paint (I dont' know how else to say it) and a grass skirt with two string puppets by her side dancing. It was so cute to watch. Reagan must have thought so too, because she started trying to immitate the girl dancing.

The second time the skit came on, she did it again. This time both Jim and Jordan got to see it. We all got a huge laugh out of it.
