Big girl sleep

Reagan has finally gotten used to her sleep schedule. We finally weened her off of us sleeping in her bed. We stopped coddling her. :) We were the problem, not her. She goes to bed on her own now and has far fewer disturbances during the night. Thank goodness. We both needed the sleep. :)

Sleeping

Maddy has gotten back into her sleep routine again. It took me a while to figure her evenings out, but she seems to have gotten into a pattern. About 730pm she gets fussy - she needs a cat nap. We usually get Reagan upstairs near that time to take advantage of the downtime for her bath.

Once her bath is about done, Maddy wakes up and wants a bottle. So we do bottle during books for Reagan and then say our prayers. Once we are done with that, she and I go to her room to rock and chill out. She usually fusses a bit more before falling asleep about 915 or 930 for the whole night.

I usually have to wake her up about 730 am. I assume that her body clock will set soon with that time so she gets used to getting up then. Either way, I'm getting a ton of sleep. :) Go Maddy!

Bumbo seat for the first time

Today I put Maddy in the bumbo seat for the first time. She did great. She can't sit up quite on her own, but she seemed to handle it well. She sat and played for over five minutes. I was impressed. Reagan even joined in on the fun with Maddy - handing her toys and kissing her.

I want her banana

Today, the girls and I were hanging on the couch watching TV and eating a snack. Reagan had a banana and was working on a second one. For some reason, the banana caught Maddy's eyes. She kept looking at it. Every time Reagan would lift it, Maddy's head would follow. She eventually reached out like she was going to grab it. She couldn't quite get there, but I could tell she was curious about it.

Carrying on

It is amazing to me how talkative Maddy has gotten. She cooes and gurgles all the time. Today, I put her down to grab a cup of coffee. As soon as I was out of her sight, she shrieked. She did that before, so I know she's trying to get my attention. As soon as I popped my head back around the corner, she smiled. I knew she wanted to see me.

She's just so easy to smile and so easy to entertain. I love it. She fusses if she's bored with what she's doing or if she's tired. I'm finally getting her little cries down.

The other really cool thing she did today was grab onto her little bear snuggly. I got her a snuggly that keeps her teething rings on it. She grabbed it and put it in her mouth. Yea Maddy!

So talkative

She is just so talkative. I can't get over it. I walked away from her today to go into the kitchen and she shrieked. When I got back, she smiled and cooed. It was hilarious.

Our first conversation

Today Maddy and I had our first conversation. She talked, cooed, gurgled, giggled and made other fun noises for about 10 minutes straight. I could tell she was trying hard to mimic me. She'd watch my mouth and then make a noise. It wasn't always what I did (I tried to stick to what she was already doing), but she made a noise for every one that I made. It was awesome.

Of course, in between each noise, she'd smile her beautiful smile. I love it!

Where did you go?

Today Maddy and I had a weird day. We didn't get a whole lot done except conversation. She LOVES attention. She and I went downstairs today to work out because she wouldn't nap. Sigh... So I put her on her play mat and worked out. She would kick and kick and giggle when she could see me. When she couldn't see me, she fell quite and didn't look around too much.

I find it curious that she only lights up and plays when her immediate family is near. She doesn't get as excited for anyone else. Reagan had a fear of some, but she would go to most that we were okay with. Maddy has no interest and starts looking for me as soon as she is not in my arms.

Way too awake

For the last two days, she's been awake again. The worst was last night. It was like she was over stimulated. She only took two cat naps yesterday - 20 minutes each. Then about 7:45 pm, she fell asleep fast. She took a bottle and I figured she was down for the night.

Nope! She woke up at 8:15 pm while Reagan was in the bath. My dad was here so we split the kid duty. :) She was wide awake and mad that she wasn't with me. We got Reagan out of the bath and into her pjs. We sat down to read books and I found that Maddy was not calming down. Her eyes were darting all over the place and she almost seemed as if she couldn't "shut down". The problem was the I couldn't figure out where to take her in the house to calm her down.

I tried her room, but she just cried. I felt so bad for her. When Jim got home, we just brought her downstairs with us and I put her in her sleeper. I just laid there with her. She cooed and giggled and laughed. It was so cute. We had our own little conversation. I heard more gurgles and other noises that I hadn't heard from her. She even started mimicking me. When I wasn't looking at her, she'd shriek. It was cute.

But at 9:30 pm, like clockwork, she fell asleep. Weird.

Reagan and Maddy

This morning Reagan was sitting down next to me and Maddy. Reagan cracked herself up and made Maddy laugh. She loves to watch happy faces I guess. I got it recorded. :)

Supergirl

Yea, my little girl has finally put a cape on and started running around the house like a superhero. I love it.

While i was at the doctor's office yesterday, Reagan grabbed Maddy's blanket and asked Jim to tie it around her neck. He took a hair band and fastened it to her. She ran and ran and ran. Of course, she had her arms out in front of her like supergirl would fly. LOL.

Last night and this morning, I was able to witness this and even get pictures. I'm loving the make believe time with her.

Reagan and Sharing

This morning, Reagan and Jim were sitting on the floor next to Maddy. Reagan was eating her box of raisins. She turned to Jim and said "here Daddy" while trying to hand him a raisin. Jim didn't want any and told her that. "No thank you".

Reagan quickly looked at the box and said "but it says, you have to share and it says you have to have them".

WoW!

Four nights in a row

Maddy has slept all through the night four nights in a row. WOW! She slept the first two nights in her bed. Friday night, the night I was sick, she slept in the sleeper next to me. I was too drained to do the whole bedtime routine. Last night, she slept all through the night.

She gets cranky about 8:45 pm - almost like clockwork. By 9:30 pm, she wants to be in bed. Nice. Very nice.
