GRUMPY

Oh My! For the last several nights, Reagan has just been a pill to put to bed. She's always fought taking a shower or washing her hair because she wants to do everything by herself. But lately, she's not interested in going to bed. She seems to be scared of the dark. She's having night terrors again. She's a mess. I seriously hope it straightens out soon. I'm starting to wonder if she's reacting to my pregnancy.

Hmmm

Temper tantrum at 5am!

Today was a really long day. Reagan got up at 4:30 am (nice). I gave her a bottle and hoped that she would go back to sleep. Nope. She was up and had absolutely no interest in going back to sleep. (nice again). So I held her for a bit thinking that I could "rock her down". Nope again again. She decided after about 30 minutes of this that she needed to throw a temper tantrum. At this time it was about 5:15 am. (ugh). So in the middle of her temper tantrum, I laid her down on the floor to let her "cry it out". She did for a bit and then got up and ran across the room (arms folder in full pout mode) and stood next to the window and screamed. (ugh again). All I could do is watch her. Wow! I was honestly amazed that I was watching a tantrum during the 5 am hour! So thirty minutes after that, I gave up. I had to get ready for work. So I laid her in bed (which didn't last long at all) and came downstairs. I quickly announced to Jim that he was "up" and I was getting ready for work. (ugh and nice all together).

Florence Walgreens sux

Ok here's an update on the Rx saga...

I called the Florence 24-hour Walgreens at 900pm to check to see if the prescription was reaady. I was on hold for over 20 minutes before I got to talk to anyone. When Jason answered the phone, there was no apology for the wait nothing. Then he had the nerve to say the Rx is "not in the system".

WHAT!!! You're Freaking KIDDING ME! So he puts me back on hold for another 8 minutes and then gets back on the phone and says "it will be ready in about 30 minutes". OH MY GOSH! I'm going to go balistic.

So I called back to talk to the manager at 930pm. She just flat out didn't care! So now I'm calling Walgreens corporate. I'm pissed and sick and tired of the crappy service and attitudes from that freakin' store! She seemed to get a bit nervous when I asked for her last name. And when I asked for Jason's last name, she said "I don't know". Of course, at that point, I was so irritated that I actually said "what, you mean you are the store manager and you don't know your employee's names? Are you kidding me?" Oops. But she quickly came up with his name.

And another update at 1030pm
So Jim calls me and says "guess what, it's not ready yet". I about hit the roof. So we have been told four different times, we gave them extra time and it STILL WASN'T READY! He had to wait another 10 minutes before it was ready for him to pick up. I personally think that is absolutely ridiculous. If they are that slammed (as they say), then they should ramp up for it. They know they get busy after hours and they should staff for it.

Grinding teeth?

Oh my - she's already started grinding her teeth. It is the worst noise in the world. Tonight after dinner, I kept hearing her chew on something - it really sounded like she was chewing on a rock. I couldn't get her mouth open, so JIm did. There was nothing there. The only thing we could figure out is that she was grinding her teeth. UGH! It gives me chills thinking about it.

Slicky spots on our hill

This morning was hilarious. Jim, Jordan and Reagan were all about ready to take off to school and we got an email saying that Jordan's school was on an hour delay. So everyone took off their coats and hung out. The funny thing was that we really didn't realize how slick our hill was. Jim was in his office working and heard someone spinning their tires. He looked out and apparently there was a Jeep stuck on the hill. There were multiple other cars that would start sliding about 1/4th the way down and eventually would stop. We saw a Yukon slide 1/2 way down and turn sideways in the process. Wow. So we sat at home until the salt truck came through. Oh yea... it was bad enough that even the salt truck couldn't get up the hill without dumping a TON of salt.

Getting nervous

Tonight as I put Reagan down, I realized how much I used to take for granted before she came along. I'm going in for surgery tomorrow. This is the fourth major surgery for me - the third in the last 12 years and I am really getting nervous. I never even thought about it much before. This time is different.

I just pray that God will watch over me and the doctor tomorrow. Please say a few prayers for me! :)

Sippy cups totally stink

Ok maybe that's not exactly how I should say it, but man sippy cups are so frustrating. We are in the process of trying to get Reagan to take a sippy cup. We haven't found one yet that she will drink out of. I think we have bought one of every kind out there. The only one she really seems to like is the Boon one - and of course it's expensive. So I am dreading buying more just in case it's a fluke. Ugh!

Any ideas?

Temper tantrums are cool

Temper tantrums - what are they exactly? Well I personally believe they are an opportunity for kids and babies to act utterly ridiculous in public and private and an even better opportunity for parents to laugh at their kids.

The first time it happened, I didn't even know what was happening. This was a few weeks ago. But Reagan has been performing these quite well over the last 10 days or so. I wasn't really prepared for what she could do over the Christmas break, but she is quite impressive.

This morning was the best. I got her up and brought her downstairs. I fed her on the couch and put her on her feet as usual and then proceeded to get up and put the used bottle up etc... Well I guess SHE wanted the bottle. She was reaching for it, but I just didn't think about it. She proceeded to throw herself on the floor and start to cry. WOW! I think that was a record for her. Within 10 minutes of her waking, she was already launching an attack. I laughed so hard I about peed in my pants. Am I a bad mom? Ugh.

Anyway. She got over it fast. She usually does maybe because I don't pay attention to them most the time. She actually threw another one in the kitchen when I was putting her bag together, but again... I just look at her like "what is that?".

I really am caught off guard when she does this because I am so shocked it's happening that I usually just stare at her. Oh well. If that makes me a bad mom, I guess I am. But hopefully my inability to compute the stupid tantrum will keep them from being real long. He he.

Cake troubles

The birthday cakes I ordered for Reagan's party were supposed to be done by Saturday morning for us to pick up. I ordered a "One year old cake" and a "sheet cake" to match her invitations. Jim took off Saturday morning to pick them up and called me when he was on the way to pick up the other stuff from Kroger.

He said "they did a great job, the cakes are really cute. one is a lion's head and the other..." I cut him off. "A lion's head"?

UGH.

I ordered a red and pink square cake with a number one on it for her cake and an animal cake for the main cake. They screwed up.

I called them and loudly complained to the owner's wife. She profusely apologized. I told them to fix it.

Guess what - they did. They had a new cake (like the one I wanted) delivered to my house by 1030am. Wow!

Feeding 101

Reagan's little independent streak is not allowing for good meals lately. She wants to feed herself. The only way you can get a bite of food in her mouth without her hands on it is if you 100% distract her with something else. That is not an easy task to accomplish. Needless to say, tonight she ended up with sweet potatoes, green beans and a mix of other things all over herself. I eventually gave up and figured - if she's hungry she'll eat.

Day from Heck

Ok, today was just one of those days that everyone has. But today was my day. Nothing went right in the morning. It took me 2 hours to get out of the house. When I got to LRS with Reagan, some jerk pulled his car out (right next to me) while I was trying to get Reagan out of the carseat. When I asked him to wait, he nastily said "oh you'll be fine", reved his little car and just kept going. UGH! (yes i reported him to Kyleen).

I got to work and the whole team got canned. Ugh again.

Tonight I got home and I just couldn't be grumpy. I got fussed at because I was grumpy. Ugh again.

Thank goodness for my parents once again. They came over. All I needed was an outlet to get rid of my stress - I needed a workout. They came over so I could go to the basement. Let me tell you - it was an awesome workout. My stress level came down VERY quickly. Thank goodness.

I'm hoping Wednesday is mucho bettero!

Temper tantrums - now normal

Apparently Reagan's temper tantrums are normal activities at 12 months. I got this tip from Parents.com today. How nice - she is an earlier achiever.

At 12 months - "You have also reached the age of temper tantrums. Your baby may be cooperative one minute and downright negative five minutes later."

Friday night temper tantrum

Oh my gosh - it was probably the funniest thing that I've seen her do yet! Reagan threw a FIT! She was so tired, but also refused to slow down to sleep. So we let her stay up and play. It was 845pm and she was playing in the corner with all her toys. I went over to "hang out" with her for a bit when she started to show signs of getting squinky. (squinky is our term for anything other than normal behavior that we don't like) Usually when she gets "squinky", she wants some attention. Tonight she did not. She sat up and started crying - but not crying - fussing. She threw her arms up and I sat back to watch the show. She stood up on her toy, fell down, pushed me away and then threw herself back on the floor! Wow! Oh my gosh. I picked her up and said "okay - sleepy time". She didn't actually go to sleep, but then she did calm down some. She stayed up Friday until 11pm only because I didn't want another tantrum. Jim said that his Dad used to just "let him go" until he passed out. I personally thought that was a good idea tonight.

She's crazy and into everything

I think Reagan has no fear. She is so mobile now and is also taking so many chances that I have a hard time keeping up with her. One second she’s crawling around the living room – the next second she’s in the kitchen hanging off one of the chairs! I now have to peel her little fingers off of something because she is so darn determined to do what she wants to do.

Of course, I put her in the walker thinking that I can get something done because she’s somewhat contained. Ha ha! She’s motoring around the house so fast that she doesn’t worry about what she’s running into – walls, chairs, dogs (yes dogs). I think she sees a bulls-eye on the dogs at times.

Oh and the bathroom is just a really bad place for her to be. I have no locks on anything which means if I don’t have enough toys in there with her she gets into whatever she can open and crawl to (which is everything). I let her play with a battery operated back massage thingy which surprisingly enough keeps her attention if she turns it on. She puts it on her leg, on the wall and anywhere she can get it to make a noise. She stuck it on the shower door and just started giggling. It made such a loud noise that it startled me a little – I just didn’t know what she was doing.

And yes, she now knows what No means. She just grins at you and keeps going. She knows… hmmm

She finally did it - gross

About 6:45 am, Jim called me from the baby’s room. He wanted me to come upstairs. Reagan had finally done it – she pooped up her back and out of her diaper and clothes and onto her bed. She had woken up crying and Jim was in the process of cleaning her up. We wiped her off and I picked her up in a blanket to wait for Jim to get her bath together. Yes, it was that gross. Needless to say, everything she touched was wrapped up and shoved in the washer before Jordan and I took off for school. Poor thing.

Throwing up in my hand

Ok I've been grossed out by poop and other things, but this was ridiculous. Tonight, after the DI Schansbergs picked us up at the Mobile airport, we went to O'Charleys for dinner. I order my typical chicken and boring veggies thinking that I could get Reagan to eat a little of it. We've started feeding her some table food to get her used to it, but not a whole bunch.

Anyway, towards the end of her meal, I mushed up some plain baked potato and gave it to her. It didn't really work out for her at all. It was way too dry (I guess) and she started to choke on it some. You could tell she was really struggling to swallow it and started the gag reflex thing.

I knew in an instant that she was going to vomit. I didn't know what else to do, so I just stuck my hand underneath her mouth. I obviously did not think that through at all because she did puke RIGHT IN MY HAND! It was just solid enough that it didn't ooze over onto her outfit or even between my fingers. Nice huh?

I dumped the contents of my hand into the empty salad bowl on the table and sat there in amazement that I even did that and that I didn't hurl myself.

Up all night

Poor little Reagan. She was sick all night. I put her in bed about 915pm and she fell asleep pretty fast. She had not only a dose of Amoxicillin but also some Tylenol for her ear infection in her system. About midnight, she woke up very unhappy. I'm not sure what happened next because it was Jim's turn to take care of her overnight. But I figured out that I had to go upstairs to check on the situation. Pretty normal.

I walked out of the bedroom and Jim was a little hot. He had been calling for me and he was frustrated because Reagan was not doing well. She was hot and crying and had spit up some on the floor. I went upstairs to try to help him and that meant I had to take over. As soon as she saw me, she wanted me.

So there I was, sitting in the rocking chair, holding onto Reagan. She was really worked up and crying quite a bit. She at one point, couldn't stop coughing and finally just hurled all over herself and me. Wow did that STINK!! It was real puke too, not just some formula or medicine. It had food in it. Ugh. I've now been grossed out a few times by her today.

So, Jim picked her up and I realized I had a pool of puke between my legs. :)

After I got changed, I picked her up and took her downstairs. We talked to the doctor and he said to watch her and give her a re-dose of Tylenol or Motrin because she needed it for the fever and to call in the morning to bring her in. We went downstairs and sat on the couch. I didn't know what else to do and then I remembered - Baby Einstein. What a wonderful thing. She calmed down very quickly and got absorbed into the cute little puppets and babies on the screen. She was up from about 12 midnight til 2am or so. She then finally slept from about 2am to 4am. She got up again and I held her until about 6am. I know she slept some but not much.

Floater in the tub

Ok. Tonight was a banner night for my little dainty girl. Not only did she pee on her changing table but she also pooped in the tub. Yep Ladies and Gentleman, she POOPED in the tub. Mom and I were playing with her in the tub and she started to hunch over a bit and "concentrate". We all know what that looks like. I said "is she pooping?" I had to pick her up while Mom looked to see if anything was floating out. Oh man. Not only did she have pebble floaters, she had also pooped enough for it to stick to her bath seat.

I was completely grossed out! EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Goopy eyes

Oh No! She's got the Goopy Eyes! I woke her up this morning and her little eyes were almost glued shut with the yellow goop. I wasn't really sure what to do other than wipe it off. By the way, that makes her really mad. :) She hates her face being wiped off, unless she's in the tub, and hates her eyes being touched even more. And that stuff is really hard to get off of the eyes and eye lashes. It's amazing. It's like super glue.

She had it all day. We called the doctor in the morning and he thought it was probably just a cold bug, or the leftovers from it. Sometimes that snot backs up out of their little eyes instead of their noses. Ugh! That's stinks. But at least she could breathe.

The good thing is that she was happy most the day. She did get cranky towards the end of the day but all in all, she was ok.

This is totally gross!

Ok. This is totally gross, so don't read any further if you have a weak stomach.

I picked my little bundle of joy up today at LRS before 5pm. As soon as she saw me, she started saying "ma ma ma mama" and waving her arms. She even tried to crawl towards me. Ok that's not the gross part.

Ms. Megan told me that she did have her afternoon nap, so I figured she would be taking one and Jim and I could workout. I scooted out the door and made our way home to our wonderful home where I knew two lovable doggies would be waiting for me to let them outside to pee and play. Again, not the gross part. It's coming. :)

When I walked through the door, I was smacked in the face with the smell of DOG POOP. Oh no...

Carson, our big lovey boy, had pooped all over his crate and also thrown up. Nice. It was everywhere. There I was, holding Reagan and trying not to vomit from the stench of poop! Let me tell you how absolutely grossed out I was and how hard it was to keep myself from puking all over.

I called Jim to say "umm what do I do" and figured I didn't have much choice. I put Reagan in front of the TV and changed my clothes to get ready to dive into the crate and clean it. First I had to get Carson out and not Sydney and then figure out how to keep Sydney from peeing in the house. I lined the floors with blankets and towels to keep the poop off the floor and opened the front door then his crate. He took off and immediately tried to poop again. Geeeeez.

The next task was to clean out the crate. Ugh. Ugh. Ick. Vomit! I put a mask on my face, grabbed the paper towels and a bag and dove in - literally. This crate is big enough that in order for me to clean the back of it, I must get in up to my backside (if I'm on all fours). Yea - can I tell you how much fun that is and was. I of course started at the front and moved my way to the back. As I went farther back, the poop got bigger and the stench got stronger. I think I threw up at least once in my mouth.

When I was done, I cleaned up, changed my clothes and burned everything! Just kidding. I did change my clothes though. :) Oh yea and I let Jim wash the dog. He he!
