Mu little singer

On our road trip to Louisville, my darling daughter started singing songs in the car for entertainment. Guess what her first song was! Jesus Loves Me! and she knew the entire song. Love that.

Rock on sister - yes he does.

Reagan is right-handed

Uh oh. There goes my chance at having a lefty. :( She's constantly using her right hand now. I guess that broken arm really impacted her being a lefty... or maybe not. :)

Swaddling...

I went upstairs this morning to wake up Maddy and she was wide awake. Odd - she never made a peep. Anyway, she had managed to get out of her swaddle again. This time, both of her arms were out. But she was out not in the normal way. She had managed to get her hands and arms out the bottom side of the swaddle, not the top. Odd. She had pushed the swaddle up towards her face. Unfortunately, the velcro pieces scratched her little chin a bit. But she was happy and free.

Exersaucer time

We put Maddy in her Exersaucer this morning. She did fantastic. She actually made it about 30 minutes. She had two different towels supporting her little body but she was very alert and playful the whole time. I was impressed that she could touch the bottom with her foot - she was flat footed. She reached out to touch the toys, but her arms are not quite long enough yet to get to everything. Reagan was more than happy to help her play.

Little miss bossy

We were all sitting at the table this morning eating our breakfast. Maddy was in her bouncy seat. Reagan looked over at me and said "hey you didn't fix me a drink. Bad mommy!" She, of course, had a very stern look on her face - her eye brows were crossed. I didn't really respond. She then, looked at me and pointed her finger towards the table and said "I need a drink" and tapped the tip of her finger on the table.

I'm still sitting here wondering what just happened. I guess she is my little miss bossy.

Her right arm?

For some reason, her right arm always goes up. Whenever she lays down to sleep, she lifts her right arm up. If she's playing, she will reach up and put her hand on the back side of her head.

Day two

Maddy is at school again today. I think it might be more of me getting used to her not being around. Everything I do has been centered around her, even my workouts. It is so odd not to have her right next to me today.

I decided to get some more of her gear set up for her. Jim got the bouncer and exersaucer out yesterday. I cleaned the exersaucer up today and got it all put together. It's ready for her to play - I'm so excited. I should have the bouncer set up shortly as well.

I called to check on her a little while ago - she's fine. Of course. They are doing great with her. Of course. Sigh...

First day of school

Maddy did great! No crying. Nothing. She was in a good mood when I got there. We hung out for a bit - she ate and I gabbed. I was very happy with the whole thing. Rita said "she'll be tired". She wasn't kidding. Holy Cow. She took the longest nap since she was a newborn. Over two hours. I had to wake her because I was worried she wouldn't sleep overnight.

She did tell me that she thought she was really strong and tried to sit up most of the time she was there. That didn't surprise me at all - she does that here at home.

So we're just hanging out. She's in her bebe pod. Love it. She is even more active. Is it possible? I'm watching her and she is attacking this thing. She's grabbing with more intent and her facial expressions are so serious about it all. I can't wait to see how tired she is after tomorrow.

Maddy's at school today

Sigh... I dropped Maddy off today for a half day. I am a little out of sorts because of it. I am so used to doing everything with her. I got a text from Rita at 11:00 or so and she said she was doing just fine. I'm glad. No crying and even took a nap for her. Whew!

I am sad without her. I did get a good treadmill workout in - something I can't do when she's here. That was very nice. I am getting ready to go pick up my little stinker. I can't wait to see her.

Pacifier...

Well, I think Maddy has finally settled on using her first two fingers for her pacifier. She has refused since birth to use a plastic one. Oh well... at least I won't have to go into her room in the middle of the night to put it back in. :)

Maddy is getting longer

I just found out that Maddy is way too long for her little infant tub. I put her in that today and realized that she no longer fit.

Shrieking at night

Last night, Maddy woke up about 3:30 am. The first thing I heard was a shriek. It wasn't a cry. So I waited. Unfortunately, this meant I was awake and not sleeping. I checked on her and she was awake, but not crying. So I left.

I got downstairs and about five minutes later she shrieked again. I waited. Then in another minute or two, she did it again.

I figured that was her cry. She was up and wanted to be picked up and fed. I got into her room and leaned over her body and she just smiled. So cute. At least she doesn't cry. She's polite about waking me up.

Violin lessons

I took Reagan over to NKU today to audit a violin lesson of a boy who was in the first book. I got there really early, so we walked around. I should say, I had Reagan RUN around so she'd use up some of her energy. (I think it backfired on me and it gave her more)

Anyway, we watched the lesson for the first 15 minutes. She did really well. She watched and played. About 15 minutes into it, Reagan decided that she wanted to lick the mirror. That was about when I called it quits and decided to leave. Hee heee. I was mortified, but I'm sure no one payed attention to her.

The neat thing about it was when the boy was playing the Twinkle Variations, she looked at me and said "Mississippi Hotdog" and proceeded to sing along with him. I was so proud. That was the rhythm that I had taught her to make the music more fun. It worked! She recognized it. I smiled really big I'm sure.

After dinner, we went to the basement. I got her violin out and she was more than eager to play along. She picked it up and put it on her chin. She then leaned her cheek over and placed it "just right". Another HUGE smile. She took the bow from me and put it on the strings and pretended to play. The noise was not so great, but the fact that she got ALL of that from the lesson is so impressive. Not only impressive, but scary. Very smart. Kids at this age pick up stuff so fast. My heart was so full with joy.

Tooth already?

I felt in her mouth today and I felt something hard on her gum line. Could she be getting a tooth already? Seems early. She does suck on her first two fingers a lot. I keep trying for the pacifier, but she won't do it. I wonder if I quit swaddling her if she would use her fingers at night... hmmm

Bumbo seat again

She's getting much better at the bumbo seat. She is so much more tolerant of the whole process. She plays with the rattle toy really well and constantly reaches for things while she's sitting up. The good thing is that it provides me with some needed computer time. I sit her up on my desk while I type. I play suzuki music and play for a few. :)

Grabby little thing

She LOVES to put stuff in her mouth. It just cracks me up how much she tries to shove in her mouth. She actually uses all the teething toys I had for Reagan and the ones I've bought for her. While I work out, I make sure she has a variety of toys to shove in her mouth. If I don't, she gets upset.

Puzzle mania

Reagan apparently started doing puzzles. She never had gotten into doing them until the last month or so. Today, she brought a bunch of puzzles down to the basement. She wanted to "do them".

She dumped about eight of them out on the floor, mixed them up and then put them all back together. Odd. Guess they weren't complicated enough by themselves. LOL
