Plaster hands and inked up feet

Ok. I got a picture frame from a friend of mine (for my shower a year ago) to capture that "first step". So I thought since she started walking this past week, that I should probably capture that first step. Yea... her footprint is TOO big for the frame. oops.

Oh well. I got it anyway. So now her foot is blue.

The other thing I tried to do today was the "first year hand print". I'm no good at this stuff or she's too busy to do it. I tried twice. It just didn't work. The first time I stuck her hand down into the plaster, she grabbed it and made claw marks. Hmmm. The second time, she just made a mess. I'll just have to live without it. ;)

So busy

This morning, I saw a lot of "firsts" for Reagan. I am just so amazed at how fast she is picking up on things - it is just amazing.

So far today she's climbed into her rocking chair, climbed onto the coffee table, climbed onto the couch, almost completely "biffed" climbing out of the rocking chair and off the couch... hmmm. She walked again, she went into Jim's office and pulled out the keyboard tray to start typing. The list is endless today. It is like she put a bunch of stuff together that she's learned. Wow.

Oh and one super cute thing. We have a Christmas musical toy (which is annoyingly cute) that has an on/off button. Yes, she's figured out how to work it. Normally she just turns it on and dances through the entire song. (We Wish You a Merry Christmas). Today she watched me dance as she turned it on. Then she turned it off and watched for what I was going to do next. So I stopped dancing. She figured that out pretty fast - she had me dancing and freezing every five seconds. Of course, she thought that was hilarious.

I can't wait til she wakes up from her nap. I can imagine what she will do this afternoon at Grammy and Grampy's.

Head butts?

This morning, I got home from PT and Jim was feeding Reagan. She was eating just about everything from cereal to apples and bananas. I even tried ice cream. After breakfast, Jim picked her up and she started head-butting him. Odd. When the heck did she start donig that?

Jordan's basketball

Uh oh - Reagan LOVES Jordan's basketball. How hilarious is that. She saw it in Jordan's room last night and went right to it. She wanted to play with it. She giggled and laughed kicked with delight. I couldn't believe how much she enjoyed it.

This morning, I went upstairs to wake her up about 8am. The first thing she saw was the basketball and, of course, it was the first thing she wanted. She called for that ball over and over again. I let her play with it for a minute before I changed her diaper. She screamed the whole time pointing at the ball. "Ba.. baa.. ball"

I took her and the ball downstairs and she was still having a fit. She didn't calm down for a few minutes until she was just "chillin' with the bball". Oh geez.

Jim's freak accident

Ok. This was good. Tonight, Jim had a freak accident and I am still trying to figure out how it all happened. I'm still in amazement that he and Reagan are ok. All I can say is... WOW!

So Reagan just didn't want to go to sleep at all. She was cranky and just didn't want to go to sleep. So after a few tries to get her down, I asked Jim to try because I needed to change clothes and go to the restroom. I left him with Reagan and took off down the steps to get ready for the evening.

It wasn't very long after I went to the restroom that I heard from upstairs (over the monitor) "I could use a little help here". Very calm. That's it. That's all I heard.

I thought "hmmmm, wonder what that is" and quickly took off. The time I had that request from Jim there was poop everywhere. There really was nothing calm about the request.

As I approached the stairs, I could hear Reagan crying but really didn't think much of it until I reached the doorway of her room. There it was. Jim, Reagan and the rocking chair all on the ground. Jim was in one direction, Reagan was in another and the rocking chair was in another. WHAT HAPPENED! I was trying to figure out the scene but nothing made sense quickly. I heard myself ask Jim "what happened". I'm guessing now that he was too dazed (and hurt) to answer quickly, becuase I then screamed "what the H happened here".

Jim was hurt, Reagan was fine (I'm sure dazed) and the rocking chair was close to being kindling.

Jim had been sitting in the chair with his legs up on the ottoman. He was soothing Reagan on his chest when she sat up and threw herself backwards. When he sat up, in a rocking chair that was fully extended, it made the chair topple forward and the ottoman to turn over. This movement sent him and the baby to the floor and the ottoman feet into the back of his legs. Straight into his legs.

Reagan was totally fine. Jim was hurt - but kept her safe. Yea daddy!

I am still amazed and perplexed as to how this happened. Jim now has gashes in both of his upper thighs. I am sure that will leave a mark.

Uh oh.

Reagan was little Ms. Adventure this morning. She normally doesn't crawl into her chair by herself, but this morning she got in. Wow! Of course that meant that she was getting in and out of it several times before she got the hang of it.

After a little while, she got a little more adventurous. She decided to try to crawl over the back of it. Oops. Not good. So me, being Ms. Smarty Mommy, thought if I put it up against the coffee table, she wouldn't flip over the backside of it and crack her head. Uhhh duhhh. That worked. But instead of her not crawling over the back and cracking her head, she crawled over the back and right on top of the coffee table. Whoops.

I took a picture before I pulled her off.

So my Ms. Smartiness didn't stop there. I thought, well let's back it up against the love seat in the living room. Right? At least that would be cushier. Hmmmm. Yep and it's farther off the floor too. So when she craweld up on top of the cushion, I freaked out again. I am so smart. Geez.

Needless to say, I just stood near her for a little while after that. She eventually decided that crawling on top of things was a little boring and stopped. Thank goodness. She really was keeping me on my toes.

I think Jim was secretly laughing at me - watching me do dumb stuff. Oh well. I learned I think.

Happy New Years!

Happy 2009 Everyone!

The days are blurring together

With both of my brother's families in town, my days are starting to blur a little bit. I am having trouble keeping track of what day it is and what all is going on.

So far, we are having a nice time. Reagan is doing very well with all the attention. She plays great with everyone and is able to shove the kids back when she wants a break. The one thing I've noticed is she wants to walk everywhere. She doesn't want to be held anymore, she wants to walk. Walk walk walk.

She will reach up and grab on and walk walk walk. and only one finger. She doesn't need two anymore. I'm just waiting for her to take off without any help.

Busy day

Today was my first day of vacation. I decided to just take the week of this week and enjoy it with my family. It's a nice opportunity to just chill and get some needed rest - or so I hope.

My family showed up tonight about 600pm. Eric's family drove up from Louisville and Chris' family drove up from Mobile. I had already made plans with a friend of mine to go out, so I missed the inital insanity of "seeing the new house". After I got home, I walked down to visit for about an hour.

The kids were going NUTS! They were running around and screaming. I think this was the first time they had all seen each other in a year. Wow. Anyway, they were all exploring the Grammy and Grampy's new digs - I don't blame them. There is a ton of space for the entire family to sprawl out and relax. It is nice.

I walked back home about 1030pm to head off to bed. Jim was still playing video games with his friends online. How funny. Oh well. I'm beat.

Make-shift walking thingy

Tonight Reagan was wandering around the kitchen and found the step stool. She pulled it out from underneath the cabinet and started pushing it along. It was kinda funny watching her walk behind the stool like it was her walker.

TOo cute

Reagan is just too darn cute. She's started doing a few things lately just are just so adorable...

So she started doing this thing where she holds out her arms staight ahead while squeezing them together. It's so goofy looking. I'm trying to get a picture of her doing this.

The other thing is when she's being "goofy" she turns her head to the side and just flashes a smile that is so darn cute... ugh.

She is now starting to show me what she wants to eat. I'll have a number of things on the table and she'll point to one. If I try to feed her anything but that item, she'll shake her head or spit (which isn't all the cute).

She's walking more and more. She and I were down at the parent's house today helping them move in and dad was watching her. She had him walking her all over their house. She would apparently reach up for "one" finger and start going. He was worn out by tht time we left tonight.

And last night while she was in the tub, she "asked" me to turn on the shower head. Jim had been turning that on while she was in the tub playing, but this was the first time she pointed at it and motioned in her own way for me to turn it on. How funny is that.

I love watching her.

I have a 1-Year Old

Oh my. She's one. I honestly can not believe that I have a one year old. This is just nuts. It seems like she just got her. She is such an awesome gift!!

Birthday memories

We had a crazy morning yesterday that I was really worried that her party wouldn't go all that well. It did. I just kept telling myself yesterday when the craziness was happening - "just control what you can, the day is moving forward with or without me". So I did. Everything worked out just fine.

We had about 15 people (all adults and one 18-month old) in the house. Reagan did exceptionally well. She took a little while to warm up to some folks, but others she was fine with. The cake problem was resolved before the party - thank you God!

She started to get a little squinky about 1200 noon, so we decided to give her cake. It was definetly interesting. We sat her in her high chair and sang happy birthday to her. (I only got 1/2 of it recorded). She look totally confused. Then we sat the cake in front of her and she relaly didn't know what to do at all. She eventually started playing with it, but she looked confused when she had icing all over herself. It was anti-climatic. She didn't do much but smear red icing everywhere. Oh yea - red stains nicely. Oops.

After we did the cake, we completely upset her by trying to get all the red icing off of her. That took a while which meant she was 100% worked up by the time we were done. She did get some nice gifts, but she wasn't really all the interested in opening them. She liked playing in the boxes though.

Everyone left about 145pm and I headed upstairs with the birthday girl for her nap. She passed out fast. No fussing at all. She slept for three hours!!

We didn't do much tonight. We did run out and get some dinner with Dad. We piled the whole gang into the truckster and ran out to Carabas for carry out. I don't think I could have cooked any dinner after the last few days. I'm looking forward to resting tomorrow.
