Playing with cool stuff
Since Maddy has been sitting up, she's getting to play with the cool toys. She's got her little piano, her alphabet spin wheel and tons of balls and blocks to play with. Most of this stuff came from Reagan, but there are a few things that we got when Maddy was born. It's cool to see her playing with Reagan's old toys. Sniff sniff. She's getting so big.
Jumpy girl
Maddy is getting so air in her exersaucer. She plays so nicely. She spins herself around in it and gets excited every time she sees it. Today, I walked over to hang out with her some while she was playing and she got really excited. She started jumping! So amazing.
Easter Egg Hunt
Today, we went to the church to celebrate Easter a bit. Each year, the church has an Easter Eggstravaganza for the kids in the area. They bring in a great entertainer - magician, singer, kid person. Most of the kids have a great time. Then they get to roam the halls in search of candy and eggs.
Reagan, this year, decided that she wasn't interested in hanging out in the sanctuary listening to the entertainment. She wanted to look for the eggs. That's it. Nothing else.
When the kids were let loose, she joined the orange group and found her eggs. Jordan actually walked her around - it was cute. Once we were done, we picked up the candy from the front and sat down to chow down on some sugary treats. :)

I'm healed
We took Maddy to the doctor today to get her six-month shots and check her ears. Good news - her ears are healed. Bad news - she didn't like the shots. Although, she did much better this time. :)
Sleepy girl
Ok. I'm a total mush. Maddy is so used to sleeping in her bassinet now that she won't sleep in her bed. Geez. So I tried to put her in her crib tonight. It was fine until I sat down with a bowl of ice cream. She started crying when I got about half way through.
I let her go a little bit before getting her. She was not interested in sleeping upstairs. As soon as I picked her up, she fell back to sleep. nice.
So I held her on me for a while. I snuggled. A lot. Mush! I held her for an hour and finally put her down. Mush again.

Grabby hands
Tonight, Reagan, Maddy and I were hanging out on the floor. Reagan thought it'd be fun to wrestle with me. I, on the other hand, wasn't super interested. To get my attention, she decided to grab my boots. Really!? She not just grabbed, but grabbed and squished. Hmmm. Odd. Wonder where she got that from... JIM!!!!!
Carrots
Not so much. She didn't care for them at all. She wrinkled her nose at them and eventually would not eat them at all. Hmmm.

Food
So I can't decide if I should stop nursing. We've made it to six months. I've been back at work for seven weeks now and I'm doing pretty well. How long are you supposed to nurse?
Fine motor skills
Maddy has got some really good fine motor skills already. She is grabbing all sorts of stuff and doing it on purpose. She actually reaches for very small things and can pick them up. Her coordination is growing so much. Tonight, I sat her up on her little mat and got out a bunch of her toys - blocks, balls, stuffed animals. I held out a ball and she reached over and took it out of my hand. It took her a couple tries, but she did get it. Not only that, but she palmed it. She would pick it up with one hand, rotate her hand around and then move her arm around - the whole time holding the ball. I couldn't believe it.
When she got finished playing with that, she put it down and picked up a block. That she pretty much put in her mouth and gummed like everything else. She did really like her musical dog. I picked that up and she got really excited. My guess is that Rita has that at school and she plays with it there. Anyway, she was so much fun tonight. Love her!

Bananas
Nope not interested in them at all. I was totally surprised because all babies love bananas!
so happy
Maddy wakes up so happy in the morning. She slept in our room last night because of her ear infection. We woke up to her cooing, laughing and talking. Every once in a while, she'd let out a loud shriek and then giggle when she realized we were watching.

Park no violin
Tonight, I just couldn't stand it anymore. Reagan and I ditched violin for the park. Reagan and I walked up to the park and Jim brought Maddy in the car. It was just so beautiful out we couldn't help it. Reagan found a few friends up at the park - other families apparently had the same idea as us. She played chase and catch with a few of the kids. She had a blast. Maddy enjoyed the weather and watching the scenery.
We stayed up there so long that we didn't really get a good dinner together for any of us. Oh well. Sometimes sunshine is the best food out there!

Sleeping in our room still
Maddy is still sleeping in our room. Sigh. I really want her to sleep in her crib, but I also want her to sleep through the night. Since she can't stay asleep, we keep thinking her ears are still messed up. So we let her stay.
I guess we need to take her back to the doctor to check her ears. If they are good, it might be time to cry it out.

Green beans rock
I gave her green beans again tonight. Holy cow she like them a lot. I need to start singing to her like I used to sing to Reagan.

where to sleep?
Last night, I was home alone during bedtime. So while I was putting Maddy in bed, I had Reagan lay down on geegee's bench until I could tuck her in.
I put Maddy down and then took Reagan to her room. I said good night and that was it. Maddy didn't settle down well, so when Jim got home we brought her down to sleep in her bassinet.
We woke up to Maddy cooing about 7am. I ran up to her room to get a diaper and found Reagan sleeping on geegee's bench. :)
