Today, we went to go purchase a new car seat for Reagan. Maddy needed to move up and so did Reagan. So we figured we'd get the new one for Reagan and just move Maddy. Reagan was so excited once she realized it was all for her. It took me and Jim about an hour to get my car moved around. We went to go run errands and when Reagan saw her new carseat, she flipped. It was cute. She loved the cubbies and the cup holder.
Maddy loved her new seat. She kept looking around and kicking her little feet like she was excited. She fell asleep promptly after we started moving. I guess she was pretty comfortable. :) Yea Maddy.

Crazy conditions, crazy drivers
Driving home this afternoon was completely nuts. I left a little early because I had schedule a picture session for the girls. What I didn't know was the roads were getting icy and that it was sleeting out. Ugh.
It took me about 45 minutes to get to Erlanger. On the way home I saw a five-car accident on Ronald Reagan Highway - two of the cars were pretty smashed up. I saw a large 4x4 pick up truck do two 360s across the south bound lanes of I75 South near Erlanger and I watched many other acts of stupidity. I wasn't white knuckling it, but I was close.
I was going to run some errands after the picture session but quickly decided it might be best to just go on home. Wow what a night.

Driving Mr. Carman's toy
I drove the Highlander today. Ha ha. Jim was taking Reagan in and picking up both girls after school. So he got the minivan - mainly because he hadn't bothered to move the car seat into the Highlander yet. So I got to drive the "cool" car in.
I LOVE IT!!!

We are completely insane
Yes folks, Jim and I are nuts. All I wanted to do on Saturday was test drive a minivan to see if I could even stand to drive one. We didn't buy one on Saturday despite all of Jim's work and haggling.
But today - ha ha! Jim did it. Not only did he get me a Sienna, he got himself a new Highlander.
Geeeeeez!

Cathy and the minivan
We had the day planned. Get in the car, go to the mall and shop, go grocery shopping and then go to the Festival of Lights. Yea.
Nope.
I mentioned to Jim that I wanted to test drive a Sienna because I was starting to get frustrated with the whole space thing in my car and he made a b-line to Toyota. Wow. He said, if you want one, I'll get you one.
For those of you that don't know, Jim has threatened me with a mini-van since we got married. I said from Day One - no way in hell would I ever drive one. Hmmm. Well, I guess when you get as frustrated as me, you start thinking about it.
Anyway, I got in. Jordan came along and we took off. Let me tell you - space really is the final frontier. It was HUGE! I was amazed at how big it was. But it was comfy. I looked back and Jordan and she was smiling ear to ear. She said "this is awesome" I have so much room. Ugh. My heart sank a little because secretly I was really hoping I'd hate it. I didn't. :(
We tooled down the highway and enjoyed the ride. It definetly had a sweet ride and handled really well. I got off at the Mt. Zion exit and waited at the light to get back on. I floored it. Yep, getting onto the highway with a sharp turn, I floored it. Wow! It's cool.
It's HUGE, but it's cool.
So if I admit that I actually like it, does that mean I'm a soccer mom? Crap!
Nope.

I love my 4Runner
I love my car. Have I said that before? I remember when I first started looking for the perfect used SUV years ago. It had to be green, it had to be 4-wheel drive, it had to be a Toyota. Blah blah blah. I finally found it after a year and got it. I was so proud of myself.
So now, I've been driving my 98 4Runner for almost 9 years now. Wow! It will be 11 next year and I bought it in 2000. It is in fantastic condition (although dirty) and runs well. I can't complain.
Except I will. My little SUV was fine until our family expanded a year ago. And quite frankly it probably would have been fine still except I am having a lot of trouble getting Reagan into her carseat. It really tweaks my wrist. I think I may start asking to look at a new car soon.
Jim and I looked hard a year ago - we test drove every SUV out there. We looked at American cars and every foreign car we could find. We settled on the Toyota Highlander, but then decided to just stay with our paid off cars and wait. Glad we did, I was home 8 months with Reagan and a new car payment would have been stressful.
Hmmm. What to do?
