Swimming across the pool
Reagan swam all the way across the pool... four times. Holy cow. She swam on her belly and on her back. She now can roll from back to front and then swim the rest of the way in. I'm so excited for her. I am so happy for her and can't wait to take her to our neighborhood pool to practice everything that she's learned so far! Way to go Reagan Mae!

Little Swimmer Girl
Tonight Reagan swam. Simple as that. She pushed off from the side of the pool and swam to her teacher. Dog paddle and kicking. Face in the water. Only one breath to get about a quarter way across. I didn't actually get to see it - Jim did. But I am still oh so proud of my little girl.
I'm impressed with the fact that she has made such huge improvements in 10 lessons. That's it. She started with a crazy fear of water. She hate putting her face in or getting her hair wet. Now she is willingly swimming to her teacher. How cool is that?

Swimming
Tonight, Reagan got to go into the big pool and do actual laps. I couldn't believe it. She is floating and kicking on her own and learning to push off the side of the pool. She was a little hesitant in the bigger pool. I think she was a tad afraid of the deep end, but she didn't seem to phased by it all. She did great!
She was so worn out by the end of her lesson, she went right to sleep. I was amazed.

Reagan's swim lesson
Reagan had her second private swim lesson tonight. Her teacher is very good with her. She is very strong with her and really works with her well. I tried not to watch too much just in case I made her nervous. She was able to do so much more in a private lesson than she ever did in her entire swim course with a group. She had her gliding and floating and pushing off the wall. She held her breath under water and blew bubbles for five seconds. All so much more than we ever got her to do before. I'm hoping she will get over her fear of water on her face soon. She's doing so well. I"m so proud.

Water Babies
Maddy is a natural in the water. She got in today for the first time and just flipped to her back. It was really interesting. She just hung out. No big deal. Reagan decided to try to swim without her swimmies. She still doesn't like to get her face to wet. But she will try. She and Jordan played a lot with the dive rings. Jordan dove into the water for them. Reagan pointed to where they were. It was cute.
Oh yea - four lessons, four notes. Hmmm. Think she's getting more from this teacher. :)

Swimming Lessons
Reagan had swimming lessons tonight. This was the first in a several week series to help her get used to the water and start floating on her back and stomach. She did pretty good. I think she was really hoping to get into the other pool to just play. She seemed a tad disappointed with the whole thing and said she didn't want to do it again. I am hoping that she will be excited about it next week.

Who won? Reagan or the Waterslide?
So you be the judge...
Monday after our "get away weekend" we drove down to get Reagan from school a bit early and take her back up to the Great Wolf Lodge for an evening of fun. She was curious as to where we were going, but we just kept telling her the waterpark. Confused as she was, she was happy to be going.
We got there and she lit up. She played in the water, went down the water slides confidently and played in the fountains. There were several structures that kids could play on - Reagan found them. She climbed up one - and just kept going. Jim and I followed her curiosity and ended up face to face with two water coasters.
Of course, Jim and I both thought that she could ride down with daddy, so I headed back down. I looked up and Jim was waving at me and I figured out that she had to go it alone. Uh oh. It was a big kid slide, not meant for kids at her level. I was worried. But Jim said "she's going down alone and the lifeguard is okay with it". Hmmm.
So I waited. He sent her down and I waited. As she came down, I heard nothing. No screams nothing. But she appeared butt first, face down and plopped right into the pool of water. I, of course, scooped her right up expecting her to cry or something. Nope! She had this look of terror and shock on her face. But no noise. She didn't make one until she saw her daddy and immediately wanted to go to him. :)
I still haven't figured out what happened. Did she flip out, was she in shock? I'm guessing the answer to my question is that the Waterslide won!

Little fishy
Tonight, we took the girls to the pool and went swimming. Jim and I bought Reagan a small vest and some swimmies to try. She did GREAT! She ended up, by the time we left, being able to float and kick herself to the side of the pool. Woo hooo!!! She was so happy with her new freedom. She was very very happy.
