Crazy day

Oh my. I am just amazed at how much Little Reagan can do in one day. Wow!

Today I was watching her on my own. Jim was off with Dad helping him move into the new house down the street. We all thought they'd be done by 4pm or so... nope. So while I had a blast watching little Reagan all day, I am worn out! Wow.

She is so funny. Today we climbed stairs, played on the piano, played with her toys, played with her doggie, loved on the dogs, walked around (holding on to me) and the list could go on. That was just this morning. She took a nap about 100pm today - for 2.5 hours. Yea! I took that time to go do my DVDs. I did a double workout. Can I tell you that was a mistake in hindsight. Ugh.

So when she got up, she was so clingy. We sat on the floor together (her in my lap) and watched Baby Einstein and ate Cheerios. We all ate Cheerios including Carson and Sydney. At one point, I had to use the bathroom. So I picked her up and brought her with me. I stopped by the mirror in the bathroom and she opened up her hand to point and out dropped two Cheerios into Jim's sink. I left them there.

The cool things about today.
1) Reagan took two steps. Not totally controlled so I can't officially say she took two steps, but she wasn't flying from one item to the other. It's close.
2) She is saying "mom" very well now. She actually gets the "m" on the end of it.
3) She now will come with me when I leave the room. I just said "come on" and she did.
4) She finally was able to get into the dog bowl and play. I left the room for a second and that is all it took. She was soaked from head to toe in dog water. Oh well.
5) She stood up completely balanced several times today. Each time I didn't react because when I do, she throws herself down. I just watched. I'm impressed.
6) She's squatting again. She squats to do lots of things now. Again, it's a precursor to standing and then walking.
7) She can lift a five pound weight - or at least move it about an inch. Ugh. My little Hercules.
8) She has now hit me so hard on the nose that my eyes watered and I could see anything for several seconds. I was trying to grab the phone out of her hand and she swung it right at my nose. Yes there is a small bruise. Oops.
9) She ate soap. She took a bite and some stayed in her mouth. Boy oh boy did it make her mad when we tried to scrape it off her teeth.

I think that's it. So much in such a short but long day.

Now she's sleeping like a little angel.

Shape Sorter and Lids

Today I've been hanging out with Reagan all day. Jim is off helping my parents move into their new home. So we've had plenty of bb & mommy bonding time today. I've watched so much. She is so active and just some neat things. When she's playing, she'll face the corner where her toybox is and just play. She's fine all by herself for a while. Evenutally she starts looking around to make sure you are watching - that's about the time when she wants attention.

Today I watched her put a couple shapes in the right place in her shape sorter. Then during snack time, she was holding the lid to her puff container. She acted like she was going to hand it to me, but ended up putting the lid back on the top. Wow! My guess is that she's doing that at day care.

Moving day?

So my parents are moving part of their home today to their new home - just down the street. I was supposed to be helping them move, but mom changed her mind. She was going to watch Reagan and I was going to move boxes. For some reason, I'm watching Reagan and she's moving boxes.

So Reagan and I are spending the entire morning together. I can not believe how busy she is. I am actually having a hard time keeping up with her. Not because I'm tired, but because she's just all over the place. I actually have to keep my eyes on her at all times now. Wow!

Squatting

Jim and I are anxiously awaiting the time when Reagan will take her first official steps. She's been flirting with it here and there, but nothing solid yet. I have read that squatting is apparently a precursor to the walking milestone. I was so surprised tonight when I saw her doing that. She was playing next to the refridgerator with the magnets and squatted down to pick something up and just stayed there. She played in that position. I was so shocked. I didn't get a picture (LOL) oh well.

Jordan and Reagan

The girls are so cute together. I don't think Reagan can stand to not be next to Jordan when she is here and Jordan is really getting attached to Reagan. It's so sweet. I think I'm actually considered "chopped liver" when Jordan's around. That was a term we used for Jim when I was around. But now, even I'm less important.

I have to say, it is such a blessing that they are so good together. I think Jordan is really turning out to be a good big sister. I'm sure as they get older the bond will get stronger and stronger.

For now, I am enjoying the site of my little girl lighting up when her big sister is around. It's awesome!

P90X & The Boot

Ok - I must be nuts. I was told by the doctor that I could still workout but just nothing jarring or anything that would cause my ankle to flex. So I can do anything as long as the boot is on and then whatever I can do with it on. The only thing he said to take it off for was a recumbent bike or swimming. Sweet.

I've been using the P90X DVDs - they are a life saver for me. If I don't work out almost daily, I really start losing my mind. I crave it.

So for the last two weeks I've been working out with the DVDs with my boot on. Because the boot weighs about three pounds, I strap on a three pound ankle weight to my left leg to even me out. Most of the stuff is really low impact or no impact. And when there is stuff that has impact - like jumping jacks or running in place - I just do other things that make me sweat just as much. (For those of you the know the P90X system, I don't do Plyometrics right now)

Last night, I did the cardio workout. OUCH! I honestly think I worked out harder with my silly boot on than I ever did without it. Because I was so paranoid that I wasn't getting a good workout, I would push harder on the calethenics that I could do. It took me about 20 minutes to cool down! Today my hips are sore!! Yea!!!

The only exercise I really wish I could do (and can't - ugh) is the Dreya Roll. It is awesome! You start standing up, fall to your behind, roll to your shoulders with your legs straight up, roll back to your "situpon" and then stand up. You have to do as many as you can in one minute. I had gotten up to 15 before I put on the boot. When I first started these workouts, I couldn't even do one. I'm half tempted to just do it, but then I think "what if my AT snaps - uh oh!" :)

So I will continue to work hard at all the things I'm allowed to do and pray hard for the day that I can do it all again!

P90X ROCKS THE HOUSE!

On the bench

Today is my first official day back on the bench. So now, I'm spending time updating my resume, searching for gigs and finding any kind of training I can get my hands on. I am sure I'll get pulled in to do some sales work, but just not sure what yet.

Climbing the Stairs

Oh No! Our home has entered the new stage of babyhood. We now have to put a gate up at the bottom of the steps! Tonight, Jim and Jordan went to pick Reagan up. Apparently Reagan REALLY (REALLY REALLY) missed Jordan. As soon as she saw her, she crawled right over to her and wanted to her pick her up. The whole way home, Reagan and Jordan gabbed.

Once they got home, Jordan had to go upstairs and finish her homework. At some point, Jordan came down the first part of the steps to the landing and was getting help from Jim on her math. Reagan spied her and immediately started crawling over to her. I actually thought, "ya know, she missed her so much she might go get her".

She DID! I told Jordan to call for her. Reagan crawled over to the steps, looked up, and went hand over hand over foot she climbed up to Jordan. Jordan then went the rest of the way up the stairs and Reagan followed. OH MY GOSH!!! Reagan has never even tried to crawl up any set of stairs at this point. I can't believe she just did it.

Guess it goes to prove that if you want something bad enough, you'll just do it!

Lots of fun

Tonight I was playing on the floor with Reagan and she started rolling the ball to me. We rolled it back and forth multiple times - she laughed the whole time. After that, she crawled over to her "walky thingy" and pulled up. She was just standing there barely holding on. Since we’ve been trying to get her to walk, I thought I’d prompt her to let go. I said “So Big” and she let go. She thought about it, but she let go. Of course, she didn’t walk, she sat down. Drat, we’re trying to get her to walk. :)

She absolutely loves her dog – the one that makes all the music and noise. It’s a great learning toy, but she likes to hug and kiss it.  But I think her favorite toy by far is her piano. Every time she gets on the floor she crawls right over to it. As soon as she hits a key, it starts pumping out music. She loves it – she starts rocking back and forth and laughing. It’s awesome.

Ball and other stuff

Reagan said "Ba" tonight while signing "Ball". Wow! How smart is that!?
She now blinks when you ask her too, knows what a giraffe is and some other cool stuff.

Meagan and Amy both said that she was so talkative today. She just kept jabbering on and on and pointing at things. She is so busy.

I think her favorite game is peek-a-boo (or our version - Where's Reagan). She played that with Grampy tonight at dinner. Grampy turned it around on her after a while and covered himself up with the napkin. Reagan would pull it off of him and then hand it back as if to say "do it again". We reminded Dad that she could do this forever! he heee

Achilles update

Yesterday I went to my "first" doctor for my MRI results. So far he's had three different opinions on the care of my achilles and the urgency of my care. He's gone from "no surgery" to "surgery only" to "well you can wait until after your 2nd degree bb test". Hmmm.

So today, I went for my "second opinion". This doctor is in the same practice as the one that did my knee (who is one of the best in the country). I felt safe there. He examined me and made some interesting comments.
1) I am WAY too flexible - stop stretching completely.
2) The reason why I am hurt is not because I don't take care of myself
3) I am apparently one of "those people" that are more prone to injury due to "hyper flexibility" and something else I can't remember. When you are really flexible (like me) apparently those tendons and fibers don't protect you if you were "normal". Hmmm. So I guess it's settled - I'm not normal.
4) This is the BIG ONE! I am absolutely at risk (high risk) for rupturing my achilles. OUCH! I let him know that the other doctor said that I was at absolutley no risk and that I could continue with my exercise program and train for my 2nd degree. This doctor said "no"!

So where I'm at now - I have to wear my boot for a month, do some more therapy and go back in January to see where I'm at. He did say that tendon injuries can heal and he thought I might. His only concern was getting back to my activities. But we'll take it one step at a time. I wonder if I can do my P90X?

Please keep this in your prayers. I really don't want to be immobile with Little Reagan getting ready to start walking. Ugh.

One nap a day

It's official, she is down to one nap a day. That means that she now gets hungry easier and then also needs to go to bed earlier. She's been in transition for a couple of weeks, but Amy said she was really starting to go to one nap and they really couldn't do much about it.

Wow. So tonight, she got fussy about 600pm. I gave her a solid meal then instead of a bottle and she was ready for bed about 830pm. I am just amazed at that. I really never thought I'd see the day she'd go to bed before Jordan. Wow!

Easy afternoon

Well today was an easy day. I was able to leave a tad early and get Reagan by 430pm. I love those days. I love surprising her a little. I am always greeted with a smile when I pick her up. I love it! Melt!

Tonight, we played piano. Literally. I played something, she would wait til I was done, then she would play. We did this over and over again. When she got bored, she'd crawl down off my lap and stand there while I played. I hope she likes music later as much as she does now. I know she LOVEs the piano right now.

I'm sick

Well, I've now gotten sick more times in the last month than I have in the last year. Oh gosh. I have a throat infection? What is that? I've heard of sinus infections... but not throat. Oh well. I have a dose of antibiotics and that should take care of things for me. I just hope little miss doesn't get it.

Baby Proofing step one

Ok, we've finally taken the time to get some baby proofing done around the house. Of the countless drawers and cabinets Reagan can get into, we started with the kitchen. She is now offically not able to get into any of the doors in our kitchen cabinets. That took Jim a while. The next task is to take care of the 13 drawers. Then I think we'll move onto the bathrooms. I can't believe all the places you have to lock up with a baby.

As soon as Jim was done baby proofing the doors, she tried to get into them. She tried and tried with no luck of course. She'd just turn around and look at you like "hey what happened"? We do have a door that we can open with a bunch of old tupperware in it. She definetly needs a place to play while we're in there.
