She BIT me!

What the heck! Today was our first day of Spring Break. This morning, we got up and decided to be a bit lazy. Reagan and Maddy workout with me on the weekends - Maddy does Pump with me and Reagan walks on the treadmill or rides the bike to her favorite program. Anyway, after my workout, we were relaxing on the couch. Then one thing started and someone got tickled. Then the other one. Then the three of us were in the middle of a tickle fight.

It was lot of fun until Maddy pretended to bite me. I quickly reminded her that it would not be a great idea to bite me. Within a few seconds of her warning, she flat out chomped on my forearm. Luckily I had on a thick sweatshirt for my cool down period or I might have had broken skin. She made my skin turn purple and red right away and bubble up like a pimple.

It's taken about 12 hours for it not to hurt to the touch. Sigh. She did tell me that she had just decided she didn't want to be tickled anymore.

Reagan's head

Today, the girls got out of school early because of the crazy ice storm heading our way. My mom graciously said I could drop them off with her while I finished off my work day. When I went to pick them up, Reagan saw me from the front windows and took off running to open the door for me. Poor thing slipped and smacked her head into the chair or the window sill and got a nice nasty knot on her temple.

I know she was hurting because she asked for an ice pack. When I finally got her home and calmed down, she laid down with her ipad and the ice pack and didn't move for an hour. Poor thing.

Reagan's first splinter

Poor little Reagan got a splinter from my parent's deck tonight. Ugh. It didn't really bother her too much, but it was deep into her big toe and we were worried about it getting infected. As daring as she is, she was petrified to have us work on it. We had to hold her down and talk with her. I bribed her with a new stuffed animal (saved for these occasions). I bargained and all sorts of things. She wanted nothing to do with it. She cried so much we thought she'd puke. She almost did. Jim volunteered his hat. That made her laugh.

In the end, she was scared. She was scared it was going to hurt. There was no logic, just mommy and daddy coming at her with a needle and a pair of tweezers. She freaked out like any normal kid. I think the whole thing took us an hour. We started at about 9:40 pm and she got to bed right before 11:00 pm. Ugh. Poor thing.

We skipped bath and just put her straight into bed. No PJs, just bed. I curled up next to her to comfort her. She was so exhausted I do not think she even noticed or cared that I was there.

Little things go bump

Maddy decided to make the morning exciting. She tipped her chair over this morning and smacked her head on the wall so hard that she dented the wall. Needless to say, the church nursery probably wasn't a good idea.

Fun morning

Maddy decided to make our morning exciting. During breakfast, and of course when no one was looking, she pushed herself back and tipped her chair over. Our table is a high-top table with chair to match, which means she had a long way to fall. Needless to say, she's a tad spacy still (three hours later) and there is a nice head-shaped dent in our wall. :) Love that. She freaked out a lot. She clung to me, which is so shocking considering she is a daddy's girl so much. She wanted me.

I stayed home from church to watch her. She's a tad spacy and tired, but she seems to be okay. She finally got hungry about three hours after she tipped.  She ate blueberries and a banana. She seems to want more fluids then anything.

Nice way to start the day, but nice to stay and snuggle. :)

Mouse on the mouth

Reagan and Joseph had a bounce-fest in the basement at my parents house. Neither kid won, but Reagan got a bloody lip and a bruise on her upper lip. Nice.

Reagan's face and arm

The other day, Reagan decided to kiss the end of the couch with her face. Her face lost. She has a nasty looking mark on her cheek up by her right eye. Tonight, she decided to stick her arm in between the posts on the kitchen chair. It got stuck. Pretty badly. Nice dude.

Second boo boo

Oh poor Maddy. She got her second boo boo today from Daddy. :( At least it wasn't me. :) Jim pulled her out of her exersaucer and pulled too fast. He ended up scraping her legs on the way up and out. She cried so hard. Poor thing. Her first was actually a Leggo accident in her first week at school. Oh well.

Parents. Pizza. Fire.

Somehow those three words should not go together, but they do tonight. We went down to my parents for the evening to eat pizza and chill out. The girls and I got down there about 6:00 pm. Dad showed up shortly after that with the pizzas. Jim was right behind him.

I had just pulled Maddy out of her car seat and was in the living room changing her on the ottoman. I realized half way through changing her that there was a weird smell in the house. It smelled as if someone had lit a match right under my nose. I looked at Jim and said "what's that smell. it smells like fire."

We both turned around and saw smoke coming from the oven. Crap! My mom had put the two pizza boxes in the short oven. Ugh! Dad opened the door and flames came out.

I immediately told Reagan to get to the front door and to stand next to the fresh air. She did. She didn't even question. She ran. I grabbed Maddy, half dressed, and put her in her car seat and headed for the door myself.

The girls and I took off and went home. I was the only one that smelled like smoke. That was only because I went into the kitchen to get the diaper bag.

Needless to say, we teased mom a LOT!

Stupid Human Tricks while working out

Today Megan said she'd watch Maddy for me while I worked out. So I popped downstairs and quickly put in the Legs & Back routine from P90X. For some reason, I decided to switch from the pull down cables to the exercise bands. I'm honestly not sure what made me do it - I just did.

So I got through the first round and used them on the cross over cable machine. I got an uneven pull from the way that Jim had them set up. So I looked for another place to hook the band. I decided to put them on the smith machine. There is a hook like feature for racking the bar. I used that. I thought to myself - be careful because this might not be a great idea, it could slip. But I tried it a couple times and it didn't. Wow.

That was all I remember.

Next thing I know, I'm lying on the floor in immense pain. I couldn't breathe, my arms and fingers were numb, I couldn't move. I blacked out for a moment from the pain. I started screaming for Jim because I didn't know where the heck I was and couldn't imagine what was wrong.

The band had pulled off the smith machine and snapped right on my chest. It was an amazing amount of pain. I couldn't stand. Jim had to help me up. I thought I was going to throw up. I was dizzy. I went upstairs and I fell into the couch. I couldn't focus on anything. I just sat. Waiting. Waiting for the pain to stop. I got up to get advil and an icepack. The advil never kicked in. The icepack helped the burning.

Needless to say, I'm still in a lot of pain. I can not believe it. The mark is getting clearer on my chest. It goes from one side of my shoulders to the other. It arcs right below my chin. It actually hit my throat some. That would explain why it hurt to talk and swallow for a while. I am not looking forward to the morning. I wonder how much pain I will be in. Sigh...

uncoordinated little girl

Reagan was playing in the living room tonight after dinner. She was playing with some balloons that were part of her birthday decorations.

Before we knew it, she tripped on the baby toy and face planted into the love seat. Wow did she scream and cry. I ran to her. Jim called me a spaz.

He said not to worry. If it was broken, it would bleed. Yea... it bled. I hope she didn't bust up her nose too much.

Reagan's hot pink cast

.Today, we had our follow up visit at Cincinnati Childrens for Reagan's arm. The nurse took her splint off and she immediately started scratching her arm. I think she was happy to have it off. The doctor took a look at her xrays and said he didn't see a break. After poking around on her arm, he delt it was best to cast her arm just in case her growth plate was broken. That isn't anything that would show up on an xray or MRI.

So we go back in three weeks to get her cast off. But for now - her arm is decked out in pink sparlkies

Our Trip to Children's Hospital

So tonight was just fun. Of course that statement is loaded with sarcasm. I was on my way to the chiropractor after work when Jim called with some bad news - Reagan was up at the front desk crying and holding her arm. She can't move it without screaming and she's in a lot of pain. So no chiropractor - I went straight to pick her up and take her to the doctor.

Once I got to the school, I saw that there were four teachers huddled around her and nobody was talking. Taylor was crying and holding Reagan. But no one would tell me anything. I scooped Reagan up and took off. Walking with her and even getting her in the car was a huge challenge. I didn't know if her arm was broken or her shoulder dislocated, so I had to move her as little as possible. Hmmm.

Once in the car, we put in Dumbo and I gave her a lollipop. That helped. She still whimpered, but she was distracted for most of the car ride. She did tell me that she was scared - I was impressed by that. I don't blame her, so was I.

Once at the doctor's, she wouldn't leave my side. I had to use the potty :), but that was nearly impossible. We got back to see a nurse and she tried to pop her elbow in place (interesting) but nothing worked. (Yes, our kid was screaming in pain and they didn't give us a damn doctor - although he was just standing there... nice huh. But they did overcharge us. Not that I'm bitter.)Anyway, they said basically take her to the ER. Jim and I opted to go to Children's Hospital Urgent Care.

Once there, things calmed down a bit. She actually told us she had to go potty - totally impressed with that. She seemed less stressed. The wait was fairly short. She played in my purse quite a bit. She put on all my make up, not just on herself, but on me and Jim too. Jim was a good sport - he let her put lipstick and powder on him. :)

We got back to the room and the nurse and the doctor were great. The nurse checked her out and totally calmed her down. She was up on the table playing some. She was calmer. Then the doctor came in and basically said "it's nurse maid elbow - or a dislocation". Sweet. :) She played around with Reagan's arm while she was talking us and popped it back in without us knowing. Reagan didn't cry as much when she did it. So it worked. Within minutes, she was totally back to normal. She was going crazy -jumping around, giggling and of course, eating a treat.

That was that. We got home about 8pm from this whole ordeal and ate pizza with my parents. She went to bed quite easily - I believe she was tuckered out. I know I was.

Rough trip down the steps

Tonight, Reagan fell head first down the basement steps. I wasn't too happy about how it happened either, but it did. She lost her grip on the rail and then fell on her chest and then proceed to slide down the steps on her chest. I'm honestly not sure how she didn't bang up her face or even really hurt herself. She was lucky. Thank God she was fine.

Grumpy baby

Reagan fell asleep in the car today while we were starting to go on our errands. I really needed to get my parents a car seat and some other things, but it wasn't working out. Jim said he wanted to take Reagan home. I actually said "she won't go back to sleep" and he said "yea she will". She never does and today was absolutely no exception.

I took off and did the errands without him which turned out ok dispite my struggles. I got home and Reagan was making all sorts of noise upstairs - apparently she never went to sleep. So at 3:00 pm, we got her up. She played, but grumpily. She wouldn't eat. Hmmm.

So around supper time, she was coloring on the coffee table. She was trying to eat the crayons. I actually had to pry the crayons out of her hands which launched an enormous crying fit. It didn't stop when we put her in her seat to eat dinner. And apparently she was really mad because in the split second I turned to grab something off the counter, she kicked the table so hard she tipped her chair over. Remember, we have a high table and high chairs which means she fell much farther than normal. Ugh.

I turned around and she was freaked out - eyes bulging. I yanked her out of the chair straps and picked her up. She was, of course, still crying. Within a few moments, she fell asleep on my shoulder. Done. She stayed suctioned to my shoulder for the next hour. It didn't matter what position I was in, she stayed asleep and right on me. I guess she was done.

Jim's freak accident

Ok. This was good. Tonight, Jim had a freak accident and I am still trying to figure out how it all happened. I'm still in amazement that he and Reagan are ok. All I can say is... WOW!

So Reagan just didn't want to go to sleep at all. She was cranky and just didn't want to go to sleep. So after a few tries to get her down, I asked Jim to try because I needed to change clothes and go to the restroom. I left him with Reagan and took off down the steps to get ready for the evening.

It wasn't very long after I went to the restroom that I heard from upstairs (over the monitor) "I could use a little help here". Very calm. That's it. That's all I heard.

I thought "hmmmm, wonder what that is" and quickly took off. The time I had that request from Jim there was poop everywhere. There really was nothing calm about the request.

As I approached the stairs, I could hear Reagan crying but really didn't think much of it until I reached the doorway of her room. There it was. Jim, Reagan and the rocking chair all on the ground. Jim was in one direction, Reagan was in another and the rocking chair was in another. WHAT HAPPENED! I was trying to figure out the scene but nothing made sense quickly. I heard myself ask Jim "what happened". I'm guessing now that he was too dazed (and hurt) to answer quickly, becuase I then screamed "what the H happened here".

Jim was hurt, Reagan was fine (I'm sure dazed) and the rocking chair was close to being kindling.

Jim had been sitting in the chair with his legs up on the ottoman. He was soothing Reagan on his chest when she sat up and threw herself backwards. When he sat up, in a rocking chair that was fully extended, it made the chair topple forward and the ottoman to turn over. This movement sent him and the baby to the floor and the ottoman feet into the back of his legs. Straight into his legs.

Reagan was totally fine. Jim was hurt - but kept her safe. Yea daddy!

I am still amazed and perplexed as to how this happened. Jim now has gashes in both of his upper thighs. I am sure that will leave a mark.
