Hanging out

Last night was really rough for Reagan. She had stayed up late due to a really late nap and gotten up a total of four times in the middle of the night. I think she didn’t sleep well because she is so stuffy and snotty. I feel so bad for her. All day, I’ve had to wipe her little nose. When I don’t, because she bats me away, she ends up with the ugliest crusty nose. It is so gross. Jim and I worked out for the first time in a while during her morning nap. We did the plyometric workout (or tried) from the P90X series. I had told Jim I wanted to sweat and boy did we. My legs were very wobbly after only 30 minutes.
We got a reprieve from our workout when Reagan woke up halfway through. I think silently Jim and I were both relieved we didn’t have to do the whole hour.
We took off after our workout and went to visit Grammy and Grampy. We don’t go to their house very often – they tend to want to come to our house. It was a really nice change of pace to just chill out over there. It got me out of the house and Reagan seemed to just have a ball.
This morning was different for me. I knew no-one was going to be at the office until about 9 or 930am. Half the team I work with does not work on Friday’s at all. And others were on vacation. So I decided to relax this morning and just play with Reagan in the morning and take her in later. I got into work and there wasn’t anyone there until about 10am. Ugh. I spent a lot of time reading and working on a status report. I had a meeting at 2pm with my colleague and he then left at 230pm. After that, I was it. So I finished my work and took off about 3pm. I went by the Pinnacle office and then picked up Reagan at 4pm.

When I got there, she was sleeping. She was so darn cute – when she stirred, she grabbed onto her snuggly. After talking with the teachers, I finally woke her up and took off. I was ready to get home. Jim had to get to the karate school for a black belt test and I really wanted to see him before he left for the night.
He took off at 530 or so and it was me and the baby. She and I were both tired about 630pm. I took her upstairs to rock her to sleep and we both slept in the rocking chair for the next two hours – Oops. I had to wake her up even after I stood up. She was OUT! It was really nice just having her to myself. I really miss that. We stayed up watching a girl flick (which I don’t do) and tucked her in about 11pm. Good night all!

Wakey Wakey

This morning I decided I was going to wake up my little stinkerbutt because I really feel like I haven't seen her since the weekend. The last two days Jim has woken her up after I've left for work and I haven't gotten to see her untnil I got home. After work on Tuesday I felt so horrible that I laid on the couch - not really able to play with her. She was so happy to see me I think. I got upstairs and turned on the light and when I leaned over the crib, she looked up and smiled. It just really starts my day well when I get to see her face like that. Jim still took her to school, but I got to wake her and feed her before they took off. Off to work. :)

Diaper Rash UGH

When we got home from school, I took Reagan upstairs to change her and she was not happy. She had a serious case of diaper rash. It was so bad that she tried to shut her legs so I could wipe her off. She was swollen and unhappy. Poor thing. I did finally get her wiped off and caked on the diaper rash cream. Wow. I’ve never seen that. So the rest of the night, we really watched her diapers. Every time she was the slightest bit wet, we changed her. She wasn’t happy but we are hoping that she is better in the morning.

I had to run to the store to get some stuff for dinner and while I was gone, the little thing passed out on the floor with Jim. I got home and the tv was off, the classical music was on and Jim was working on the computer right next to her. She was sleeping well – and did for about an hour. Wow.

Despite her rash, she had a very hearty appetite today. She had eaten and slept well at school during the day. At night, she ate four jars of food. Geez. After that I took her upstairs to let her sit in a cool bath. I figured that might help her bottom half feel a little better. She talked the entire time she was in the bath and splashed like crazy. She got going so fast (splashing the water) that I was soaked by the end of her bath. I did get a video or two which I’ll post later.

Some stuff that I really noticed today was her sitting cross-footed (or her version of cross-legged) and smiling with squinted eyes. She will laugh like she normally does (with an absolutely huge grin) and then she’ll squint her eyes. It just cracks me. She’s also saying a new word today - “bu bu bu” not “ba ba ba”.

Snuggle butt

Tonight, Reagan was so tired after her day at school that she passed out on the way home. We went upstairs after we got home and I gave her a bottle. She promptly fell asleep in my arms and slept until about 730pm. Wow. Ms. Amy had said she didn't really sleep all day - she did but only 40 minutes. I figured she'd be tired, but I didn't figure she'd sleep all evening. Grampy came over to hang out for a little bit and we chatted until it was time to wake the little stinker up. We took her out on the porch to just chill. She LOVES it outside. She watches the cars, the dogs and all the people that go by. It really seems to relax her. Tonight she fell asleep on my chest onthe couch. She really wasn't in the mood to sleep in her room, so I carried her downstairs so i could hear the RNC VP candidate speech. She's so cuddly when she sleeps on you. It was the first time she had fallen asleep on me in a long time. Snuggle butt.

Today was a little crazy. I overslept which meant I didn’t workout. That also meant that I didn’t get to see Reagan before I left for work. (pouty face). Jim let her sleep in since she had so much trouble getting to sleep last night. Despite her troubles overnight, she did great at school today. She wasn’t sniffing or anything. She ate well and slept well. WOW. I was so happy to see her when I got home. I was really tired myself, but still figured out how to find the energy to just hang out with her. I can’t stand being away form her.
Needless to say, it was a very laid back evening. Reagan played on the floor a bunch. We had some BE playing in the background, but it wasn’t up real loud. She really doesn’t pay too much attention to it at all. It’s more like background noise to her now. On her way to bed, we sucked out the snot, sprayed in some saline and put some baby Vicks on her feet. We’re hoping she sleeps through the night.

Tuesday, September 2, 2008

Today was a really nice day. We spent most of the morning relaxing around the house and playing with Reagan. She is doing so much now. Besides cooing and screaming, she’s playing with toys in a new way. She loves exploring things and really doesn’t seem to lose her concentration very easily. Jim gave her a popcorn tin that is about the size of a snare drum to beat on. She had a blast just banging on the tin. It wasn’t too loud but every once in a while she’d let out a scream while she was hitting it and it would get a tad loud. I loved it. She’s so neat to watch.

To help us on our P90X effort, we invested in a better scale. And of course, after we bought that, we went straight to Dewey’s Pizza (OOPS). It was SO good. J So we’re starting on Tuesday. LOL

When we got home, Grampy came over to watch Reagan for us. We wanted to go visit Jim’s grandparents at the nursing home. Mema had a fall a few weeks back and is staying at a home to get some PT. We took off about 4pm while she was sleeping and got home around 730pm. Reagan and Grampy did very well. When we got back, she was strolling around in her walker just cooing and smiling away. Dad stayed over for dinner and took off later. We had a nice visit!

A Cold?
I’m guessing she has a cold officially. I can’t tell. She’s been so stuffy and snotty over the weekend that she has trouble sleeping. She hasn’t had a fever or shown any signs of being overly tired, so I can’t tell. Jim had to hold her sitting up in his office chair and just pat her to get her to sleep. If she laid down flat, her nose got too stuffed up. Jim said it could be teething. Oh well. I hope she feels better tomorrow.

Sunday, August 31, 2008

I have noticed in the last week that Reagan has gotten much louder and more consistent with her noises. She loves to shriek, and babble and just all out yell. She does this especially if she isn’t getting enough attention, but just loves to do it in general. We are taking advantage of the long weekend and taking it easy. We’ve been so lazy today that I almost feel guilty. But since I’ve been working, it’s really hard for me to “get stuff done” on the weekends. It’s much easier to just want to sit on my duff and do nothing. Ugh. Oh well. That’s life.

Jim and I decided that we’re going to start back on our P90X diet again. I’m only a couple pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight. Thank goodness. It’s been a long nine months trying to get the weight off. But since I’ve been working, I can’t seem to get into working out. So I’m hoping that I can get into a routine and start incorporating workouts again. Cross your fingers.

Jordan's Bday party

Reagan slept until 730am thank goodness. When she wakes up on here own, she wakes up very happy. That is probably the best part of my day – waking her up and seeing her smile. It sets the tone for the entire day for me and just makes my heart completely melt.

Jordan had her 10th birthday party today at the outdoor water park at Silverlake. She had a nice turnout – 7 girls and all her family. Grammy & Grampy, Papa & Joan came. Even Aunt Rhonda and Aunt Wanda showed up for a while. It was nice being able to visit with them all. The waterpark is insanely huge for a local club. It is just amazing. They had a bucket o water that would fill up and spill over. I stood a little too close to it when I was holding Reagan and I freaked out. I didn’t know it was coming so I ran screaming and laughing with her. She wasn’t amused. Reagan did ok there. She wasn’t real thrilled with the water – I think it was just too much for her to deal with. She was fine.

One cool thing about Jordan’s party was that Reagan finally went to Papa! She slept on him. WOW. I am sure that made him feel great. I was so elated I think I had a tear in my eye. I took a ton of pictures for proof. :)

After the party, my family came back to our house. We played board games, ate pizza and just hung out. All four boys played with Reagan nicely. I had put Reagan in her bouncy while we were playing a game and Daniel decided to play with her. He would reach into the pack-n-play and put toys on her bouncy. It was so cute to watch him interact with her. She did wave today with one arm – very cool. And amazingly enough, I think Reagan was louder all by herself than all the boys combine. WOW! She has lungs of steel I think.
