Back ache and tired

Reagan has complained on and off for months about her back hurting and she never seems to get enough rest. I'm starting to think there is something wrong. Am I paranoid?

Reagan and the neighbors

I'm so happy we finally got some neighbors with kids that Reagan can play with - just in time. The two boys actually are a little old/young for her. But she loves playing with them. They are both the right level of rambunctious for her. They ran around, got each other soaked with the hose and ended up wearing each other out. It was great!

9 month pics

Today we had Cara come out again and take our pictues - Maddy's nine months and some shots with the three girls. They were all dressed up and ready to go. Maddy got some cute shots from what I can tell. Ms. Cara brought a few tutus over for pictures - those are the shots I can't wait to see. Maddy was so mobile during the shoot, I'll be interested to see what kind of pictures she got.

I want zoo pals

In the last two days, Reagan has seen a few commercials that she drawn to. One is the Zoo Pals commercials. These are paper plates that are shaped and designed like various animals. She likes them. She wants them.

Today on the way to school, she said "mom, i want zoo pals". I said okay. She said, "well let's go get them now" with "that" look on her face shaking her head. Nice. "Where can we get them?"

I said "Target honey". "Target?" "Yes honey".

"Oh"... with a pause.

"Well Mommy, how do we get to Target". So made some directions up and said, "but we're on the way to school".

That wasn't the end of it. She tried her best to convince me we needed Zoo Pals now. At the end, she said "okay mommy. but I really want them".

Sigh, do I get them?

Pulling up and crawling

She's getting there. She's about ready to just "go". She crawls - real crawling - a bit and then drops to her tummy. Once she gets to where she wants to go, she's up really fast. She can even pull up on a wall. We caught her pulling up on the wall underneath the television in the basement. Once she realized she had nothing to hold on to, she looked behind her and dropped to her butt. It was fun watching her move and stand so much. She is so mobile it's amazing. I'm guessing she will walk before she turns one.

Singing with me

The last two nights, I've been singing to Maddy as I put her to sleep. What is just adorable is I think she tries to sing with me. She starts making sounds when I sing and then she smiles. It's just so darn cute.

Maddy

Maddy is really able to communicate well what she wants through her actions. She wanted to get into her walker tonight. She crawled over to it, pulled up and started smacking the front of it. I asked "do you want to get in?" She just started making her Hooty sounds which means yes. I picked her up and put her in and she was off. She can really plow through this house. She's getting close to the point that I have to worry about my ankles getting hit and hurt pretty badly. It's so fun to watch though.

BIg girl food

Maddy has started eating regular food. Today she ate off of Jim's peach, apple, plum and apricot. She also ate a banana at dinner with refried beans. She loves to eat food. I think being around other babies that do, help out some. Thank goodness she's still eating baby food out of a jar. :)

Squatters rights

Maddy is getting really good at squatting. She will pull herself up on the coffee table and the squat up and down. She loves it. She started doing this the other day - she'd pull up and down on me. Tonight, she did it all night. I am just waiting for her to cruise. She's so ready.
Driving Reagan to school today, I had the music CD on to listen to. After we dropped maddy off, I shut the DVD player. Almost immediately she complained. “Mommy I want to watch the DVD”. I said “I thought you wanted to listen to the music”. She said “oh yes mommy, I want to listen to music. But there’s music at the end of the movie. Madagascar (with a smile and bright eyes)! Ya know” and then started singing “Move it move it” song. Geez!

Pulling up like a pro

She is pulling up on everything now. It's just amazing to watch her. Actually, I have to watch her. If I don't, she will disappear. She can move so quickly, that I don't dare take my eyes off her very long. I turn around sometimes and find her standing up on things. Whoops. She'd much rather be standing up and playing than on your lap or confined at all.

Another tooth?

I'm starting to wonder if she's getting top teeth. Just sayin'

My Reagan

She is just amazing me every day. Her vocabulary and communication is growing so much that it's often hard to keep up with at times. We dropped my mom off at her house yesterday and Reagan popped out with "Can I join you?" Join you? Really, a three year old. Hmmm. Maybe that's normal? She picks things up and seems to process them very quickly.

I told her she had on a gorgeous dress on last Sunday. Now she reuses that word in appropriate settings and circumstances. Mom, your hair looks gorgeous. Just amazing.

Proud mama

Walked into the men's room

This morning, on the way to work, I felt really tired - overly tired. I got into work, pinged my friend, and walked down the hall to meet her for coffee. She met me. We chatted outside the restrooms. I said "I just need to run in here" while I grabbed the restroom door. Too bad it was the wrong door. It was the door to the men's room. I turned to walk in and she said "uh Cathlynn..." at the same time that I recognized I was in the wrong place. Nice!

Going to sleep

Tonight was interesting. Reagan has started to dress up to go to bed. She will often be put to bed and then we hear her moving around. When I go up to explore, she often has on dressy socks and shoes. Too cute. She always says she has to be dressed up to go to bed. Odd.

Maddy also had an interesting bed event. She's been sleeping on her stomach. I would worry except we have a really good monitor. Tonight, she just didn't want to go to sleep. So I walked her to my parents hoping to wear her out some more. I got her home about 30 minutes later and she seemed ready. After another bottle, she still seemed too awake, so I just laid her down. She immediately got up to play with the crib toy. We turned on the monitor and just let it go. She never cried, never complained. An hour later, I went upstairs to check on her. She was sleeping on her face - literally. She was curled over in her "sexy" position and on her face. I debated for a bit, but finally turned her over onto her back. Luckily she did not wake up. ahhh.

Violin lessons

So tonight Reagan amazed her teacher again. In four lessons, Reagan has gone from not playing one note on the violin to holding, playing multiple notes and sounding good. She can now play part of the twinkle variation well. We are now on to working on the arm work. Wow. The teacher seems to under react to most things. So when she said "she's doing really well", I took that to mean she really was. Either way, I'm proud of how well she's done and am impressed with her ability to absorb all of what she's learned so far.

Bumps and bruises

I picked Maddy up today and she had a lovely open mark under her left eye. Sigh. I said "she has pictures this weekend". Not that it matters much, but I would like her to look good. That gash is in addition to the nice cut she gave herself with her nail on Saturday and then the bruise she gave herself Saturday night. Then comes the bump from opening the dog crate on her head. Oh and now she has another cut on her right temple.

Should I cancel pics or let it go?

How do I do this now?

Maddy is learning how to get around. She commando crawls most of the time. But tonight, she tried something different. My mom was watching her and said she got up on her knees and "walked" forward about four steps before going to her hands again. Odd. Just odd. I don't doubt it though. Right after that, she did a bear crawl and a real crawls in a matter of moments. I thinks she's trying to figure it all out. Cute.

Mastered the Walker

She can get in and around just about every place she can. Unfortunately, today she walked over to the jumparoo that hangs in the door way. She pushed it and it bopped her in the face. Ugh. Not good. She cried for a good little bit today. That was it for the walker today.
