Loud Noises

She’s found her vocal chords. She can make any noise you want and make it really loud. I am sure it is her version of talking, but it’s just funny. She opens her mouth and looks at you and then just “ahhhhhhhhhhhh”. And then again “ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”. And if you don’t respond, she does it louder. “AHHHHHHHHH”.
Anyway, I’m sure you can imagine. She just gets a kick out herself too.

Hands and Feet

She really likes checking out her hands – not only does she like looking at them; she also enjoys opening and closing them. She also enjoys examining other people’s hands and holding them. And her feet – oh my – I think she was able to stick her whole foot in her mouth this morning while I was changing her. Not really, but it amazed me that she got most of the toes on her right foot in her mouth. Geez.

So smart

Reagan is so curious it’s funny. She looks for stuff all the time and seems to really be remembering things or patterns. When we walk down the stairs in the morning, she looks for the dogs and dad. When I ask “where’s the doggies” she looks for them until she sees them. She also has been making choices for things too. When I hold a couple toys in front of her I say “which one” and she’ll actually look at each one and then reach for one. It’s awesome to watch her grow!

Geegee

Earlier this year my Grandmother passed away. Her 90-something birthday would have been this weekend. It’s just a little sad. I really miss her and had hoped that she would meet Reagan before she passed. I know she looks in on us from time to time. I know she’d be oozing with pride and joy for me and our family. But I still wish she could have held her just once. I do miss her.

Food issues

Today she ate more than I think I’ve ever seen her eat. She had the normal food intake up until her dinner time. She ate the equivalent of 4-stage 2 jars of baby food. Oh my. She just kept eating and eating and eating. I’d turn around to give her a break and to see if she still wanted more. When I looked at her again, her mouth would be open. My little birdie is not so little anymore.

Noises are fun

Ok so it’s been over a week since Reagan has decided that REALLY loud noises are fun. She tries to make every noise possible and then waits for you to react. It is the most hilarious thing I’ve heard from her in a while. I’ve been asked if she’s upset or crying – NOPE, just expressing herself.

I have also figured out that she definetly has some likes and dislikes. She is starting to protest when I take her away from things too soon and also “asks” to be doing other things. It’s really interesting to see how she is communicating. I’m trying to teach her some sign language with the help of the Baby Einstein videos. Everytime I show her “mommy” or “daddy” she laughs outloud. Her noises range from the Gilamonster (as Andrea called it) to just all out screaming and also her famous “UMMMM” noise. Her protest noise is the “ahhhhhhhhhhhhh”. It just cracks me up. But don’t forget the zerbert noise or the motor boat. Oh my.

Scared to death

Ok last night completely scared me to death. The monitor we use for Reagan has a sensor pad that alerts us if she stops breathing. Well, it went off last night three times. I freaked out. But each time I got to her bed, she was breathing. So I laid down on the floor using the boppy as my pillow and waited. It went off again – I popped up and she was breathing. Next I stood there and waited. Yep – it’s dysfunctional. The stupid thing was going off for no reason. Thank goodness – but now I’m super irritable cuz I’m exhausted from watching her sleep!
