Hanging out with Lynn
Today was her third time with Lynn and she did just fine. She actually did better this time. I dropped her off and she didn’t seem to mind at all. I disappeared as soon as she wasn’t looking. I called about 2 hours later to check on her and she was actually taking her morning nap. Yea Reagan. So I was off enjoying my day. I did some tedious errands and worked out. Jim and I took off to get Jordan and the Reagan. She was doing fine when we showed up. She was actually a tad fussy, but she had refused to take her afternoon nap. Oh well. She’ll get used to it. The great news was she actually ate 3.5 jars of food (yea) and 1.5 bottles. She was about “right on” with her food intake for the day – much better than last time. So hopefully by the time she’s been there for a few days in a row, she’ll have her routine down. It really stinks leaving her, but I think Lynn was a great choice – definitely a God send. I hope Reagan likes her too.

We had a great day today. We got up early and played on the floor – or stood on the floor a lot. She is wanting to stand all the time. She almost refuses to sit or lay down. So we practice cruising quite a bit. After lunch, we took a trip out to see Marty (my hair stylist) to pick up a flat iron – and to show off the little one. By the time we got home, Grammy was here and she was ready to take a nap. I put her down and Grammy and I went through the ton of clothes that she got for Reagan. just kidding mom.
Jim and I took off (instead of going to karate) on a long trail walk in the back of our neighborhood. There are some trails that run from one neighborhood to another as well as down to Doe Run Lake. We had taken the girls and the dogs on the trail to the other neighborhood, but wanted to try out the one to Doe Run before we bring the baby out. Boy were we glad we didn’t bring her in the stroller – or the dogs. My gosh. It was a mess. It was muddy and rocky AND it had plenty of overgrown places that just would not have worked for a baby stroller OR dogs. Actually the dogs probably would have loved it. But it would have been a pain trying to control them. I thought we would have been gone about 30 minutes – nope – we were gone for an hour.

One nap maybe?
She is really pushing the time when I put her down for a nap. She still fusses about two hours after she wakes up, but it almost seems as if she fusses to be doing something different. I always try to take her upstairs to nap, but lately she’s been really fighting to not nap. So today, I put her on the play mat upstairs in the bonus room and let her play. She stayed up for another hour and just had a blast. After that, she went down for her nap very easily. So now we’re up to about 3 hours after her “wake up” before she’s ready to nap. Wow.
Learning to Cruise
Today I was a little under the weather, so we stayed close to home. Instead of doing a bunch outside, we practiced cruising around the house. She does really well. She can hold on to things and support herself just fine. I placed a block on one side of the table and some other toys to see what she’d do. She actually was able to move towards the other toys – it was slow, but she was definitely trying to cruise.
Carson ate her outfit
UGH!!! Oh I was so mad this morning. I was putting Reagan down for her nap and Carson found one of her outfits that had dropped behind the hamper (not in). So he took that as an opportunity to grab it and run with it. He, of course, considers this a game of “catch me if you can” and I really couldn’t do much about it. By the time I got Reagan down for her nap (about 10 minutes), Carson was laying on the floor with it in front of him. He didn’t challenge me at all when I went to pick it up. Hmmm – that was odd. Usually he just plays and wants you to chase him. Well this morning he took it one step further – he shredded it. Oh I wanted to just kill him for that. He ate her purple outfit. Oh well.

Trail walk and a milestone
Today we went on a trail walk with Reagan, Jordan and the dogs. Our neighborhood has a few trails – one leads to the neighborhood on the other side of the woods and one leads to Doe Run Lake. We took the shorter one over to Sherbourne. We had a great time and a great workout. The hills were just amazing – rocky and steep. The hills were tough enough that Jim had to take over the stroller and I had to take the dogs. I just couldn’t control our jogging stroller and was really afraid that I’d let little Reagan go. Whoops – that would be bad. Anyway, the trail was just beautiful. Reagan LOVED the steep angles and just giggled the whole way down and made her loud noises on the way up. When we got back, we plopped Reagan into my big fluffy white chair in the front room. Jordan quickly went over and started playing peek a boo with her. She’d say “where’s Reagan” and then dip down below the edge of the seat (which was a bucket-type seat) and then pop back up and say “peek-a-boo”. After a few times, Jordan stayed down a little longer than Reagan expected, so she went looking. Not that she could go far, but she actually looked for her. After a few more times, Reagan actually grabbed the edge of the chair and pulled her way up to find Jordan. I was just amazed she could and would do that! Wow – guess she’s got the Permanence Milestone down huh.
Church at Erlanger Baptist
This morning we decided to try a different church. Our church has been missing a pastor since last winter and we thought it was a good time to check it out. We walked in and were met with plenty of friendly folks. We made our way down to the nursery and handed off Reagan to the woman behind the counter. Reagan seemed to go to her without too much trouble. We got our ID number and took off for the sanctuary. We heard a wonderful sermon on how to worship. It really made me think about how I feel about church services and what I expect. (I hope we go back next Sunday). Anyway, after service, we went back downstairs to get Reagan from the nursery and she had done great. She did her “loud noises” the entire time we were gone and even ate for the woman. She did wonderful! Yea! The woman said that she was a speech therapist and that Reagan was doing very well and thought she might end up being a singer one day. She also made the boys a little curious because of her chatter. How cute. (back off boys).
