I got my first call today from LRS. The school called to let me know that Reagan had coughed so much that she threw up (twice). Ugh. They were fine to keep her but wanted to let me know. My poor little Sweet Pea. I wish I could hold her. I'm sure she wasn't happy without her mamma.
When I got there after work, she was very happy to see me. I've noticed lately that she recognizes who I am right away. It takes her far less time to figure out who I am as she gets older. I'm guessing her vision is getting better. As soon as she saw me, she dropped her toy and started waving her arms and cooing "mamma mamma". How cute is that? She totally makes my heart melt. I picked her up to hold her - I love that smile that I get.

Storm update
Remember when I said yesterday that the wind was really bad? Well it was worse than we thought. We lost a bunch of shingles in a few places. Ugh. Here’s Jim on top of the house!
Working from home I think
Today has been crazy to say the least. I woke up knowing that I was going to try to work from home because Reagan was sick. I also volunteered, since I was staying home anyway, to take care of Jordan because I was staying home anyway. What I didn’t realize is that everyone would be home and that it would be next to impossible to get anytime to focus on even the smallest tasks. Ugh. Working from home only works if you can actually stay mentally secluded despite the craziness at home. I haven’t tried to do this with a baby before and really didn’t think it would be that hard. Whoops.
I was able to get a couple things done, but have not been able to get and stayed focused yet. It’s 5pm. Oh well.
The good news is that Reagan doesn’t have the croup. We had a rough weekend with her barking and coughing and was told to bring her in today. I took her in at 11am and the doctor said she was fine. It seemed as though she was getting back to back colds and that she should be ok in a few days. Most of the stuff we were already doing was what they suggested to ease her coughing. So that was good news.

I love paper!
Today I took Reagan to the doctor because we thought she had croup. Ick. As soon as we got back to the room, I plopped her little butt up on the table. The table is covered with a paper sheet that most doctor’s use for each patient. Well she thought it was just a playground or something. She had a ball. She kicked and hit and played the whole time we waited for the doctor to show up. She would kick her feet and giggle out loud and then look at me to react. It was so darn cute. I couldn’t help but laugh myself. Next she would smack the paper with her hand, and when that wasn’t enough, she picked my hand up and smacked it down on the paper for me. Her enjoyment of the paper was squelched quickly by the doctor trying to look in her ears. Not only did she not like that, she also decided quickly she didn’t like the thing up her nose or the tongue depressor on her tongue. Oops.
Bad storm - Hurricane Ike
Electricity went out here about 115pm. Jim wasn’t too happy because he wasn’t able to watch the Bengals game. The wind was supposed to be anywhere from 20 to 40 mph. It was pretty bad. It never really rained, but it was windy. I went out to Biggs to do some grocery shopping while Jim stayed home with the girls and I saw some pretty amazing things. Trees where down, my car got shoved into another lane (and I drive a 4Runner), branches etc… It was just amazing. I got home and Jim had to lift the garage door for me to get in. He took off after we didn’t have any electricity for a while to make sure we didn’t lose our food. The girls and I went downstairs for a couple hours. It was starting to get muggy and I thought it might be better to chill out there instead. It was nice. Once we got everything moved downstairs, it was time for Reagan’s nap. We packed most of our stuff from the store and what else we had into coolers. Thank goodness he did because we probably would have lost all of our food. I am grateful that the lights came back on about 830pm. I think the loss of electricity really proved how much our family depends on stuff to keep us entertained. I didn’t have that much trouble, but I was taking care of the baby most the time. Jordan had a really hard time with (being bored) and Jim was completely unhappy because he couldn’t watch the Bengals play. Oh well. The good thing is that our sick Reagan is sleeping in her room with her humidifier and Jordan is in her room. Jim and I are enjoying a few minutes of “peace and quiet” with the TV before we head off to bed. Cross your fingers that Reagan sleeps through the night.

Poor thing
She had a very rough night. She woke up about 2 hours after we put her down just screaming. She is really having trouble with drainage lately. She’s had a cold for a couple weeks, which isn’t good, but now she’s having trouble with coughing. Our guess is the drainage is going down her throat and getting caught or something. She was coughing so much last night that she was making herself horse. Ugh. Jim set up the girls bathroom to be like a steam room and I stood in there for over 15 minutes rocking and singing to her. She had a really hard time settling down but she did eventually. I held her in her room for an hour while she slept and finally put her down. I felt so bad for her. The complication with that was I felt horrible too. I really didn’t think I could do it at first. My head had been pounding all day and I was sick to my stomach too. But somehow that all went away when she needed me. How amazing is that? I know anyone that reads this (and has kids) understands how that works – or just that it does.
Today has been better. She’s very tired and has a slight fever. She took a 2-hour nap on me. Despite her temperature and cough, she is playing very well. She doesn’t really ever seem to stop. I guess that’s why her cold/cough snuck up on us. She doesn’t really show that she’s sick at all. But when she starts coughing, she starts crying. She hates it you can tell. We did get our her new toy from yesterday’s trip to BBRUs. Jim got her a walker-training toy with a bunch of bells and whistles on it. It’s hilarious. She has to stand up on it to play and she doesn’t ever want to stop.

Bath time
Tonight Mom and I bathed Reagan upstairs. Mom had not seen the splashing escapades at all and was completely entertained. She didn’t let me down at all. But she added a cool dimension to it – she played with a washcloth. She slung it around and around and around and around and around… Yes, she didn’t stop. She just played with it over and over. It cracked us both up.
