Ok. I'm finally able to write something about my achilles surgery. I've had a long and restful week thanks to some nice pain medication. The stuff they put me on makes me to sleep pretty quickly after I take it for a few hours. (yea!).
Anyway. My surgery was scheduled for Monday morning at 11am. I was really nervous about surgery. Ugh. We got to the hospital about 9am and Jim was able to stay with me through getting my IV. After that they wheeled me back to the "holding area". That is where I got my leg block. It was only about 10am when they wheeled me back there which made me more nervous. I really wanted Jim to stay with me until they took me all the way back, but that is not how this hopsital worked at all.
Unfortunately, my surgery was not on time. So I sat for a long time which meant that I just got that much more nervous. By the time the doctor came over to do the "leg block" on my, I was a basket case. The nurse actually leaned over me, held my hand and held on to me until it was done. She was so wonderful with me. I was ok, just couldn't calm down for some reason.
After that, they wheeled me back (wide awake) into the OR. Yippeee. Now I freaked out. I wanted to be asleep, not awake. That is just not cool. They said I wouldn't remember getting wheeled back there, but here I am typing about it 6 days later. I do remember!
After surgery, I woke up in a bit of pain. Once they realized I was in pain - probably because I was crying - they came and gave me some morphine. Yea team. Me love that stuff. :) I thought the leg block was going to take care of the initial pain. They said that sometimes it takes a little longer to set up. They weren't kidding. By the time I was on my way home, I was completely numb from knee to big toe. :) eeeeeeeee.
So that night, we got home about 4pm or so. Because I was in no pain, we had a really nice and easy evening. I did start taking my pain meds right away because I was really worried about pain. My ACL surgery was so bad that it made me paranoid this time around.
So today is Wednesday. I'm doing ok so far. No massive pain. Just good. It took a full 24 hours for my pain block to wear off. I'm in good spirits and am praying every day that I have a good recovery.
Please pray for Jim! He's got a lot to handle - kids, dogs, me!!! WOW.

Momma gets a bath
Well this morning I got a bath. Woo hoo. I normally don't care for them, but I was really wanting to get clean. I hadn't had a shower since Monday morning before my surgery. Needless to say, Jim and Reagan hung out in the bathroom with me while I scrubbed my body down. And, of course, Jim had to help me - oh darn. Reagan was very curious the entire time I was in the bath. Every once in a while, she'd come over to the edge of the tub and peek in the water. "Whatcha doin mommy?" She'd ask a question (I think) and go back to playing. Once she batted at the plastic bag on my leg (which did not feel good). She was too cute.
The bath itself wasn't too bad. I was able to get squeaky clean. Jim even did my back for me. Probably the best part was getting lotion on my back, which never happens.
After my bath was over, I was sitting in the tub drying off with my feet dangling over the side. Reagan walked over to me still trying to figure out what I was doing I'm sure. Jim said "let's do little piggy on mommy". She walked immediately over to my toes and pointed at them. Wow! I was impressed. So we went through a round of "This little piggy". He hee.
Reagan also found something on me she hadn't seen in a while. I was bending over trying to dry myself off and she reached up and "touched it". NICE!
That ended my bath very quickly.

Praise God!
All - Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. My surgery, according to my hubby and mom, went well. I haven't spoken to the doctor yet - I will see him in the morning for my post-op visit. Apparently my achilles was pretty bad off. Jim said that the achilles tendon itself had basically turned to a jelly-like substance and was basically disinigrated.
The doctor said the tendon itself was very likely to rupture over the last six to eight months. Which means all the days that I was working out (and doing P90X) the last part of the summer and this fall, I was being taken care of. I know that I was truly blessed because I definetly was not taking it easy at all.
Thank you God for keepin my achilles together. A complete rupture would have been much worse!

Getting nervous
Tonight as I put Reagan down, I realized how much I used to take for granted before she came along. I'm going in for surgery tomorrow. This is the fourth major surgery for me - the third in the last 12 years and I am really getting nervous. I never even thought about it much before. This time is different.
I just pray that God will watch over me and the doctor tomorrow. Please say a few prayers for me! :)

Imagination is cool
The doctor told us at 12 months for Reagan to sit down and "read a book" and play/talk outloud is advanced. She will sit down in the living room with a book, open it up and start talking. When she's done, she'll turn the page and talk again.
Today, she did the same thing with the phone. I told her Grampy was on the phone, she reached for it and started "talking" again.
Wow! I can't stand it - she' growing up so fast.

Hi Doggie and other stuff
So today she's been little ms. chatter box. She's been really trying more and more words lately. While eating her snack of cheetos and juice, she looked over the side and say Carson (our doggie) and said "i doohh" (or Hi Doggie). It's so darn cute.
Today, we were at Macy's getting something for Jordan's new sister (no not mine) and she found a rack of stuffed animals. She walked right up, grabbed one and said, "ok thanuuu" (or thank you). He heee
Elephant is "llllpan" and Monkey is "unnneeeee".
The other intersting thing lately is I'll ask her if she wants to eat. If she walks to her high chair, she wants to eat. And if you don't put her in the high chair, she starts fussing.
