Girly hair or not

Ok. I tried one of Jordan's girly hair elastics in Reagan's hair this morning - ICK!!!!! I can't do it. Jim made fun of me a while back saying that I liked to dress Reagan up like a doll. I do think I have my limits. So if I use a black hair band - is that bad? Do I have to get her a haircut.

Friday Night

Reagan's been learinng a lot a school. We spoke with her teacher today and she is convinced she'll know all her colors and be able to speak them by the time she leaves her class. They review numbers too, but they don't expect them to know them. She's now able to feed herself with her spoon pretty well. It's always a new experience - we never know what to expect. Unless I keep her distracted, she absolutely refuses to be fed by anyone. That just means she usually ends up very messy by the end of mealtime and the dogs are well fed.

Tonight, she actually twirled. It was hilarious. She just started turning in circles in the living room. It's so darn cute when they start something new. She's running with ease now and climbing onto things too. I think her favorite toy, if we let her play with it, is the box in the foyer. It's right next to the chair. She typically climbs in that and then climbs up onto the chair. Of course, she stands up and scares me to death. But she's yet to jump off. I'm waiting.

Interesting day

Reagan was so cute tonight. I went to go pick her up on my own, just to see if I could. She really hates it now when I can't carry her out. Based on that, I probably won't continue to try to take care of it on my own. Jim will just have to do it until I'm back on my feet. It's too hard on Reagan and not fair to her.

I drove her home and got her out of the chair and into the house ok. I had to coax her a bit, but she did walk over to the steps on her own and crawl in. Ugh. But it was too nerve racking and really not safe. Bad idea.

But, I was able to get her in, get a bottle and get her happy all before Jim got home. So in a pinch, I could if I had to. Just won't for a while.

Before dinner, she and I played on the floor. We had a nice time. I just love watching her. She spun around for the first time at home. I'm sure she does it at school, but I've never seen her do it. I just love my little monkey. She's awesome. There really wasn't much to say today. I'm just in awe of her sometimes.

Going out - I'm free

Tonight I went out with my friend Cristina. I haven't seen her since before my surgery. It was REALLY nice to get out without anyone. It was nice to have something be all about me. Man.

So we went JoAn's in Florence to eat Sushi. It was the best! I hadn't had sushi since I quit breastfeeding in June or July when Andrea came into town. MMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!

We talked about everything except men and family. Of course we talked about Reagan - why wouldn't we. Right? :) But nothing else. We talked about us - girl stuff. WOW! What the heck is that like?

I felt so much better after I got home.

I was able to get home in time to put Reagan to bed. I actually did it too. I gave her a bottle in the rocking chair and then she got so antsy I couldn't wait on Jim to carry her to bed. I put her on the floor and she walked to her crib. So cool.

Out to dinner

Instead of cooking today, I thought it would be less stressful and less energy to go out to eat with Reagan and my parents. We took off soon after they got here and went to Max & Ermas. It usually is a good place to go with kids.

We sat down in the back (a good idea with a toddler) and ordered food. Reagan did well. We went through my stash of food - grapes, yogurt melts, goldfish - before she got bored. We were still waiting on food. It took them forever to deliver it. Geez!!

Once it got there, Reagan decided she was not interested in eating. Nice. She played and flung food. Thank goodness it seemed to be a child-friendly area (others had kids). She wasn't loud at all. She was very easy actually. Despite her not wanting to eat, she did great.

We did get a game of "slide the cup" going. Dad and I were passing it over the table top back and forth. She screamed and wanted in. She passed it too. It was awesome. Dad passed it to me, I passed it to her and she sent it over the Grampy. We were all impressed.

Ah well. Another fun night with the BB.

"I get it"

I think if I'm told one more time that someone understands my situation I'm going to scream! I'm so sick of people saying "well I had my shoulder done, or I twisted my ankle". People don't understand unless they've really been in your spot. This is the second time I've been on crutches like this and quite frankly, unless you've been on crutches for more than a few days, you just can't get it! I'm on my sixth week of being completely Non-Weight Bearing on my right foot and I'm guessing I won't be walking until April. Then add in a toddler. Just tell those people "don't go there with me".

Try empathy not sympathy!

Personally - I don't need either. :)

So tired

Today I'm tired again. I went to work and just came home exhausted and sore. Everytime I go into the office, my leg gets super hot. Today I just stayed because I figured I'd probably feel better once I started towards home - I was right.

My day was interesting. Today was the first time I had been questioned by work about "where I was" on Friday. I about died. It's not like I can get up and run around. The problem was the I didn't answer my cell phone.

So depsite my desire to scream and say "really", I just said "well, my phone is basically broken and unreliable" (which was true - I lost the back to my cell phone and the simm card wouldn't stay in) and it was also on the second floor.

I mentioned that I had included my home number for people to call me at, but that was disregarded. Despite the questions, I had already completed the tasks that he was worried about and they were "out the door".
