Yea Mommy!

Today, I walked into LRS without my crutches after work. I was limping a bit, but I really wanted to walk into Reagan's room and just pick her up. As soon as I walked in, she saw me and squealed. She ran towards me with her arms up squealing! When I picked her up, she patted me on the back and just giggled. I love it. She was so happy to see me. It just made my entire day. I've been wanting to do that since I had surgery. It was such a huge milestone for me.

Achilles update

Well, it's been 12 days since the doctor said I could be full weight bearing. I am finally getting better. I am really close to being able to walk without my crutches. My PT person said I should be able to drop the crutch by Monday or so. I'm excited.

The hardest part has been my mornings and evenings after dinner. First thing in the morning, my foot throbs. As soon as I hit the floor, it just kills me until I get it limbered up and use to the pressure of standing. The sharp stabbing pains were just amazing first thing in the morning. By evening, I'm usually tired. My foot is usually swelling at that point and doesn't settle down without an icepack. Sometimes that doesn't even help.

The cool thing is that I found some support stockings at the local drugstore. They're men's stockings, but I don't care. I've been wearing them for a week. They do help most the time until the evening. I'm hoping that once I hit that month mark, I'll be out of the woods with swelling.

I'm NOT tired

Reagan decided last night that she was not tired at all. We put her down at the usual time (between 830 and 900 pm) and she was quiet for a bit. But after about 15 minutes, she started talking up a storm. She didn't cry, just talking. Jim and I thought it would be a good idea to pick her up out of bed and let her wear out while we watched TV.

She was absolutely not tired at all. She was 100 MPH as soon as she got downstairs. She was running around the living room - bring us all the magazines off the rack - one at a time. She was so happy to be up scurrying around. About 1030 pm, she started to kinda wind down - she started rolling on the floor and doing a "drive by snuggle attacks" on me and Jim.

At 1100 pm, we decided it was time for her to go to bed. We got another bottle and put her down. That worked.

The bad thing was this morning - she was CRANKY!!!! Oh my. I woke her up at 700 am to get her ready. She was so clingy and cranky. I couldn't put her down. She just wanted to snuggle on me. So I took her to school and she was a mess. I felt so bad. Three phone calls later, Nicki said that she had finally calmed down and gotten into the schedule. But, she also had fallen asleep before the official nap time. Wow!

I guess she'll be tired tonight!

My little walkie talkie

So Reagan is full of words now. She is trying new sounds and new words all the time. Jim started working with her this weekend on her letter sounds and had some success. She is starting to know her colors better and has even started trying to sound them out. Blue and Red seem to be the easiest for her. I can ask her to find certain colors (like red, blue, green and yellow) and she can point them out.

The coolest thing was our "daily card session" today. She actually tried to make the sound for a rooster - cockadoodledo. She tried. She got the first part out and made the rest of the syllables - it was almost right. I was so impressed I screamed which made her try it again. We both laughed. I also put the cards on the floor in a big messy pile and asked her to find certain animals. She did. She could sort through the piles and find what I was asking her for. How cool is that?

She's figured it out

Reagan got the Fisher-Price Bounce and Spin Zebra toy for her birthday. When she got it, she was a tad too short for it so we stuck the box downstairs and waited til she got taller. So this past weekend, we put it up. She really didn't have much interest in it. Jim and I weren't completely impressed with the graphics - they seemed pretty lame. But I figured since it was one of the "best of" toys, I'd give it a whirl.

Tonight was the third or fourth time she played on it. She plays on it well without the TV component, but I thought I'd try it tonight.

She figured it out! After a few minutes of me showing her the buttons and interactive items on the horse, she quickly figured out how to play with it. She spun the rattle thing in the middle to get the music to play (just so she could dance). She bounced to get the other animals to pop up.

While the graphics were cheezy, I was totally impressed that she figured out the "cause and effect" part of the whole experience so fast. Even better, she wouldn't get off. Wow!

More things to do

So today was the day of errands. We procrastinated on Saturday, but couldn't do it today. We let Reagan sleep in til about 9am and then got the day going. We went to Sams, Biggs and I even went to the teacher store on my own. I tried to walk for the first time without crutches and it was really hard. Ugh. I did make my way into Biggs with Jim and Reagan and did fairly well considering I've only been walking for five days. Woo hooo. After we got home, we put Little Miss down for her nap and relaxed ourselves. Jim played a video game and I passed out - sore from walking. After we woke up, Mom and Dad came over for dinner and to just hang out. It was a nice evening.

New stuff

Jim and I were sitting in his office chatting when I heard Reagan making some odd noises out in the foyer. I leaned over to see what she was doing and found that she was hiding in the coats hanging on the banister. Wow! She had wrapped herself in Jim's red coat and was leaning up against the railing. Just playing. I've never seen her do that before.

The other cool thing is that she's finally getting the hang of her riding toys. We have a horse scooter thingy in the living room that she never had an interest in. She got it for her birthday but never cared for it. But ever since we set up the interactive bouncy horse upstairs, she's been interested in the one downstairs. Hmmm. She can only ride it backwards, but I'll take it. It is so cute to watch her try to figure it out.
