Eating with a fork

She's actually eating with a fork now. The last couple days, I've given her a fork to see what she'd do. She typically reaches for mine at dinner, so I gave her a "toddler" version of a fork. :) This morning, she was actually able to spear and put an orange in her mouth. We were all so happy that we cheered. She loved that. So tonight at dinner, we worked with her some more. She didn't spear everything, but would take the food off the table and try to get it on the end of the fork before she'd eat it. It was lots of fun watching her try this new trick. I think she liked the cheers the best.

Achilles update

So I have another update. I'm at the end of my ninth week from surgery and things are going fairly well. I started working at a gig downtown on March 24 and used my single crutch for the week. That ended up being more of a pain in the butt than anything. I finally just dropped it last weekend and decided I'd figure it out. So after a weekend of beating my leg up (walking all over) and getting sore, I think I made progress.

My Dorsal-Flexion (my ability to pull my toes back towards me) got measured on Thursday (4/2) and it went from 2 degrees to 5 degrees. So my excessive walking and consequently stretching limbered me up some. That was awesome news. All the other measurements (pointing and side to side movement) were really good and just continue to progress well. The PT guy was very happy. I need 5-10 degrees to walk. Yea team. I was supposed to be at 10 by this coming Monday, but he thought the doc would be very happy anyway. I'm thrilled. :)

I'm not sleeping

Reagan decided at 3:30 am that she wasn't going to sleep. Jim said "you got this right" as I hobbled out of bed (nice). I got her a bottle and wandered upstairs to plug the hunger hole. :) I changed her diaper and then quickly gave her a bottle. I thought that was it. NOPE!

I put her down in her bed soon after and then started to leave the room which caused Reagan to errupt in a way that I wasn't sure I'd heard before. She was SCREAMING! Oh My! She was so loud that I was taken back a bit by the whole thing. I turned around and she was sitting up with her arms up and screaming.

So, stupidly, I picked her up. Of course, that is what she wanted. So I held her and sang to her for a bit. When I was done, I put her back in bed again. Oh My! You would really have thought I was poking her with a hot poker. The screaming was just amazing. Hmmm. This time when I turned around, she was hanging onto the side of bed, jumping up and down and crying. Hmmm.

This time, I got her another bottle (with Motrin) he hee. Yea, that didn't work either. I gave her the bottle and sang again - of course. I was getting really tired at this point (one hour later) and thought, I'll just hold her maybe she'll pass out. NOPE. I did, but she didn't. I woke up with a crick in my neck and thought I'll try the couch. Yea, that didn't work either.

Needless to say, after a very long time and effort, I gave up. I thought - what the heck am I doing up here coddling her like this? So I stopped. I put her in bed and the horrific screaming commenced. I left her to her new found and loved activity and passed out on the couch upstairs (just in case she got out of her crib). I think I passed out asleep before her. :)

I'm dancin'

This moring, Jim put on Sesame Street. I looked up and saw Bert doing the "Pigeon Dance". Reagan was up towards the television and starting to dance. Her dancing is her lifting her foot up and down repeatedly and then swaying her little bottom back and forth - all the while grinning like a cheshire cat. He heee.

Snotty kids

Flowers

Tonight I got home and Jim said that Reagan had a surprise for me. He lifted up her shirt and showed me her belly - it was painted with flowers. So darn cute. APparently they had gotten some washable body paint and started decorating the kids bellies and faces.

What's food?

Reagan is so busy these days. She is just so incredibly active and nuts. I am constantly amazed at all the things that she comes up with. Because of her busy-ness she has not been such a good eater. This is, I'm guessing, the stage where she just is nuts on everything. I have determined in the last two days that I am not going to force her to eat anymore. If she doesn't eat, she doesn't. The doc said "she will eventually".
