New kitchen in the living room

Today, during Reagan's nap, I put her new Ikea kitchen together with some help from Jim. When we got Reagan up from her nap, we brought her downstairs to see what she'd do. Nothing - she sat in front of it and didn't really react at all. Well, until Jim started playing in it. Then she was ALL over it!

She served us all sorts of food. Cooked some crazy stuff. We had gotten her utensils and then I got some ramicans from our cupboard and set her up some serving dishes. She played forever. I think she would have played all night except we had to go out to eat.

I'm glad she likes it.

get outta here mommy

I was sitting in the rocking chair expecting her to come to me for some snuggle time and Jim said, "get out of here mommy". Reagan follow up with a similar statement and I left.

Wow!

Bedtime battles

Well, we're at it again. Reagan is battling going to bed. It's been a week now officially and Jim and I are not sure what to do but let her cry it out. She just won't sleep.

We have our routine - bath, books, snuggle, bed. She will lay down some nights and others she will flat out refuse to even lay down in her crib. Five nights ago, she screamed for over two hours straight... Jim and I were up all night that night. It's been on and off since then.

Right now, I'm listening to her scream. I listened for an hour then went upstairs to check on her. She was wet, but fine. So Jim snuggled with her for five minutes and put her back down. Now I'm counting in my second hour of screaming. So far, she's at 15 minutes and still going strong. Hmmm.

Saturday morning peace

So this morning I was at my wits end. I am so frazzled that I can't stand it. I feel like I have life pulling at me in all directions and I am starting to unravel. I can't even stand anyone touching me let alone the thought of someone touching me. Just stay away. I hate that feeling. I just hate that feeling.

So after some coaxing, Jim got up and took care of Reagan. I stayed in bed until it was painfully obvious that I wasn't going to be able to go back to sleep. So I figured one way to get rid of my stress was to clean. It's working. It's quiet - everyone is at my parents except me and the dogs. I've ironed for an hour and hung up my clothes. I've vacuumed the entire first floor and I'm getting ready to dust.

I have a load of towels sitting in the laundry room that needs to get folded. I'm thinking about doing that.

Oh - I actually got to talk to my girlfriend on the phone for the first time in weeks. I needed that. I think I need a vacation. Sigh... how do you get one of those?

I'm so tired

Last night was the second night in a row that I had no sleep. Reagan has been keeping us up at night due to screaming fits. I just can't figure out what is wrong. Tuesday night, she woke up SCREAMING at 12:30 am and kept me up til about 4:00 am. Ugh. I had a 7:00 am breakfast too. Not good. Wednesday night, she just would not even go to bed. She wasn't tired. She wanted to play. And when you've had no sleep, it's hard to manage that.

I'm hoping tonight she sleeps.

Water over the face?

Reagan apparently has no fear of water over her face. Very odd. She likes to play with cups in the tub and about a week ago, she poured it on her head and giggled. Since then she's done it a few more times. But tonight was the big time - she stood up in the tub and took a shower, not only with the shower head, but also filling the cup with water and pouring it over her face.

Yea - maybe she'll be a fish later in life.

Just me and Reagan

I've decided on Tuesday nights, that I'm not giving her a bath. I'm protesting having to do everything since Jim goes to karate. I'm just not going to. Hmmmph.

Once I figured that out tonight, I was able to just play and hang out with Reagan. I had no time limit for anything. Just had to make sure she ate, but I didn't even worry about that either. I got dinner ready and just waited for her to tell me she was hungry. :) Ahhhh.

I think the thing I am most amazed about Reagan right now is the fact that she's really able to understand most of what you say. She's starting to be able to reason and make choices. It's fun. When it's just me and her, I really don't have much of a battle. We just hang. But when it is time to "do something" she doesn't want to, I actually have started talking to her. I have found that it does help cool the attitude at times, but not always.
