Hand, Foot and Mouth?

So, I took Reagan to the doctor today because she's been not able to eat, her mouth and throat hurt, she's had a rash and a high fever. The doctor assured me that she didn't have HFM disease, but said she had the coxsackie virus. Hmmm. He also only noted that she had one sore in her mouth.

Well today, she wouldn't eat anything. Everything hurt her except popsicles. So that's what she ate - four of them. Nothing else.

So, at bed time, she kept saying she needed medicine. So I pulled back her lip to see what was up just to make sure she was ok and she had sores all over her mouth. Great! I'm pregnant. I'm guessing by the website information, she's got HFM disease, not just something simple. http://www.askdrsears.com/html/8/t082600.asp

Ugh, so now I have to call the doctor again tomorrow to find out if there is anything we can do for the sores to help her. Ugh again.

Growing up

Reagan has turned into a big girl right before my eyes. She's doing so much and it's just amazing to watch her grow every day. So far, we've been potty training for a 8 days, and she's been accident free for 3 days. Incredible. (or course my fingers are crossed it will continue). She's also been in her big girl bed for the last 4 days - only one of which she wouldn't go to sleep.

She talks and walks and pretends so much it cracks me up. Tonight, she wanted to "roll play" I guess with me. She wanted me to "be" someone and she would "be" someone else. And then she'd tell me what to do and say. It's just fun to watch her.

She knows her numbers and letter and can do some simple subtraction and counting. She's putting on her clothes and shoes fairly well and oh, picking out her own clothes every morning. I'm not allowed any longer to pick anything out for her - it's always "I do it mommy".

She's so animated and goofy. Everything is "silly" mommy (or daddy) and she's turned into a giggle box. When did all this happen?

Momma stop talking

This morning, I took Reagan to see the doctor to figure out what's wrong with her. While the nurse was asking the normal series of questions, Reagan was doing her normal thing of chattering away. Of course, while I was talking, she held up her hand and said "Momma, stop talking I'm talking".

Way too cute. I thought the nurse was going to fall on the floor laughing.

Sick kid

Last night was an interesting night. Reagan flat out refused to go to bed for me. Jim had to come up after an hour and get her to go into her new big girl bed. Thank goodness that worked. I passed out on the couch probably around 10pm. About 1am, Reagan woke up from a night terror calling my name. I tried to let it go, but she was not doing well. So I went upstairs and held her for a while.

She did wake up after a while, but she was still crying and shaking. She just wouldn't stop. Eventually she started calling for daddy. So I carried her all the way to the basement to find her daddy. She curled up in his lap and hung out there while he playing his video games.

I think it took about 30 minutes for her to stop shaking. In the meantime, we had called the doctor because we really didn't know what to do. He said "she getting sick and just watch her to make sure she's responsive and coherent". Nice. She had gotten so worked up that she puked on Jim while he was playing games. To make it worse, she dunked her head in the vomit that was resting on his shirt. Ewwww.

After a bit, she wanted me. At that point, she was BURNING up. Flaming hot and she smell ed like puke. Even nicer. We gave her some motrin to help settle her down and it helped some. She fell in and out of sleep, but seems so uncomfortable.

By the time we went upstairs to go to bed, she had also puked on the bathroom floor while I was going to the bathroom. After about 45 minutes of the motrin being in her system, we did check her temp - about 101.

We all piled into bed about 5am. It was long night. We were all tired. She slept right on top of me. I didn't care just as long as I could sleep. I was worn out last night at 7pm, so I desperately needed sleep. I slept til about 930am and got up to take a shower. She slept until my shower was done.

This morning, she seems fine. She's been eating and dancing around the house. Maybe just a 12-hour bug?? Who knows. I just hope that she's OK.

Big girl bed

So last night, we took off the front of Reagan's crib and let her sleep in a "big girl bed". She was so happy. She did very well. I was impressed that there wasn't a huge fight to get her to stay in the thing. She stayed until I went to get her this morning.

Hopefully tonight she will do just as well.

Potty Training

Well, potty training is going much better this time around. We tried last week for a couple days and it was a disaster. So we took the weekend off and started again on Monday. This week she's had some accidents, but not many. Today has been the first day that she's not had one peepee accident... but did have one poppy. That's fantastic in my book. Way to go Reagan.

Tonight, she actually told us she had to go and went.

I think one key to her success is to keep Dora off the TV - she gets way too distracted.

It's a Girl

Jim and I went to our 20-week ultrasound appointment yesterday and found out we were having a girl! Woo hoo. So Jim gets some more estrogen pumped into the house which I find amusing. The good thing is that the baby is healthy and measures just fine. We are "on time" with the due date. They said we couldn't measure more on. Yea.

So in just another four months or so, we will be blessed with another little girl.

:)
