I'm home again with Maddy today. I took her in to see the doctor this morning after she spiked another 102.5 fever yesterday. I was told "she's a puzzle right now" and that we were to watch and wait. He thought that her fever was caused by a virus which was independent from her bacterial double ear infection. awesome. The best case scenario would be for her fever to break and then develop a rash. Then he could understand what was going on with her. But because her ears were doing much better, he thought the antibiotic was doing it's job.
So now she's sleeping next to me in the bassinet. Soundly. I'm just hoping she doesn't have a fever when she wakes up.

Sydney and Maddy's long night
Today started out pretty rough. Sydney started puking last night all over the floor. She puked five times before I went to bed. Because Maddy doesn't sleep well in her bed right now, she's in her bassinet. I pulled her into our bedroom with me about 11:00 pm.
She woke up at 3:00 am or so and wanted up. She had a 102 temp and she had pooped and was about ready to overflow. I was thankful she woke up. I went out into the living room to feed her some and Sydney had gotten sick again after we went to bed. While I was feeding Maddy, Sydney actually puked again right on the floor. That was gross. Just flemmy stuff all over the place.
I went back to bed with Maddy. In the morning, I walked out and she had puked again next to the couch - a lot. Then she puked again. She was lying on her side and had zero reaction to anything. I asked Jim to take her outside just in case she got sick again.
Thank goodness it was nice out. She was not doing well.
I took Reagan to school and Jim took her to the vet. We were told she might not make it. The vet thought she had a gastric ulcer that had burst and she was septic. He was really concerned about her. I figured it was a blocked intestine due to the contents of her puke. After a while, we called the vet and found out that she was slightly better off. She had swallowed a ring of Reagan's that perforated her colon. She was septic, but the vet felt she had a better prognosis. She will be in the ICU for a while, but she will hopefully recover.
I have been really frustrated with Sydney lately because of her meds. It's for her mastitis, but was making her crazy. Without it, she wouldn't be able to eat or move her jaws. As frustrated and irritated as I can get with her, I don't want her to die. Damn dog! I can't wait to see her today. I pray she pulls through this thing so I can love on her some more.

Maddy is sick
My poor little thing is sick again and home. Last night, she had a 102.3 temp. Jim stayed home with her since I took the sick day on Friday. She woke up at 2:30 am or so with a high temp and never really settled back down. She slept, but not great.
Jim took her to the doctor this morning - double ear infection. UGH! Now, we have to go see an ENT for her ears going forward. They've already suggested tubes once. I'm hoping we really don't have to do that. Jim brought home her health record. Basically she's been sick since I started work. That stinks.
Jim said she had two naps and didn't eat much. She did sleep on her belly for her afternoon nap. Cute. She and Jim just curled up on the floor and went to sleep. I love that. When I got home, she was ready for mama. She instantly clung to me and didn't let me go most of the evening. Jim ran out to get her meds.
This time, she got Bactrim and a probiotic since her tummy is all messed up. She did okay with the meds. We had to mix the probiotic in with her food and feed it to her. I'm hoping that will help her tummy issues.
She did eat fairly well. She loves bananas -so that helps. She stayed up til about 9pm before she got cranky. She still played well on the floor with Jim. She gets on the floor with her toy box and pulls it over on top of herself and just loves it.
I hope she gets to feelin' better soon. I can't stand it.

Mother's Day 2011
Today was a much different Mother's Day that I was used to. My mom and dad decided to visit my brother's family in Mobile, so I was without my own mom today. I was slightly jealous my brother got to hang with her, but happy that he was able to spend the day with her. It's a rare thing. I do get to see her all the time - literally.
Anyway, because Maddy and I were both a little icky, we stayed home from church. That threw me off. Jim and the girls gave me my presents. Loved them. I got a mother's ring and a nice bracelet from them. Very nice. :)
Then we packed up and went to visit Jim's mom in Indiana. We took lunch in and hung out for a few hours. Reagan was rambunctious and crazy as normal. She played well actually. Maddy slept a bit and played a bit. Eventually she got cranky and I realized that she was starting another fever (ugh). We got home about 6:00 pm and unloaded the kids and the car. Maddy was definitely warm and Reagan was done for the day and testing our kindness to say the least.
By 8:00 pm, I was done. I told Jim I had to get out of the house. Reagan was driving us nuts by being... Reagan. She was just so defiant all evening. That with a sick baby was pushing my limits. Ahhh. Bedtime was nice. Jim tried to put her down and he got frustrated as well. I walked in and handed him the baby and kicked us out of Reagan's room. She was naked. I said "good night".
Jim was amazed I think that I would just leave her like that. She was not listening and we were at capacity and were starting to yell. Bad combo. So I gave us all some breathing room. I eventually went back up to put her in bed. She had calmed down by then and become agreeable. Nice.
Jim went up to UDF to get me some ice cream. Thank you Jim. I needed something to soothe my nerves. It was a nice day. But I'm tired.

Maddy loves pears
Daddy is feeding her this morning and he chose pears. Yummmy. We found out that she loves pears. She hasn't been a great eater, but this is a win for us. Yea Maddy. She seems to dance when she likes her food.
I was sitting next to her on one of the bar stools at the counter and she actually popped herself out of her seat to look in my bowl. :)

Just stuff
Maddy is really starting to answer well to her name. She's starting to recognize when someone is talking to her. Sometimes I wonder if it's just the noise she is reacting to, but our home is noisy all the time. She's also gotten very curious about the food we eat. She doesn't always want her awesome food, but LOVES to watch us eat. She will, at times, reach out and grab it.
Tonight, we had steak fajitas and she was all about watching Jordan and me eat it. It was funny. She actually whined once. She did eat her stuff, but she was reluctant. She'll be happy when she can final eat real food. I wonder when she'll get a tooth.

Ms. Curious
Today, we were at the doctor's office and she was cracking me up. She is such a curious baby by nature, but today was even funnier to me. She grabbed my watch, and instead of just shoving it in her mouth, she started to inspect it. It was weird. I really didn't expect that.
When I sat her up on the table at the doctor's office, she instantly went after the paper. She actually thought it was awesome. She grabbed it, shook it, played with it, tried to eat it... and giggled the whole time. I loved watching her play.
