Dance Recital rehearsals tonights

Tonight was a busy night for us. Both of the girls had dress rehearsal tonight after work.  Maddy had to be in one place - Reagan had to be in another. I took Maddy because this is her first year and her first recital. I wanted to watch the experience like I did with Reagan.

We got to the high school auditorium early so we could get dressed and get pictures done too. Maddy was so excited to get into her costume, she was almost impatient. Once I got her hat on, I about lost it. She was a frog. The head piece was a hat covering her whole head with two humongous eyes on them. Way too cute.  I just couldn't get enough of her. It was perfect for her personality too. Frog. Bouncy alive and just goofy.

When she got onto stage, she was dancing her little heart out. I loved watching her. Such a proud moment when she was up there. As soon as she was done dancing, she seemed ready to go. She watned to get home.

First Day of Camp

Well, the first day of camp was a big one. Both girls went to Silverlake and had a great day. They met new people and found new things to do. They both loved their day. Mom picked up Reagan and took her to dance. I picked up Maddy. When I saw them both, they were non-stop chatting about their wonderful time at camp. Both were super excited about going back the next day.

My mom, however, had a different evening. She fell down on the path next to her home and broke her hip. This happened literally as I got home. It was perfect timing too. Missy had gotten to our house early and I was able to take off as her neighbor called me.  Long story short, she broke her hip - clean break. We won't know until tomorrow how bad it really is.

When I got home, I kissed both of my angels and told them I loved them. Even though they are asleep, I know they heard me. :)

Tooth Fairy

So Reagan's second upper middle tooth came out today. I picked her up from school ad she had totally surprised me. The teachers and her pretended she was in trouble "don't forget to tell your mom". When she opened her mouth, she smiled. I freaked. So happy! She had decided to pull it out during the morning routine. Very exciting.

So the tooth fairy had to visit. She decided to take all of her stuffed animals and build a wall with them and hide her TF pillow at the same time. Really!? Jim woke me up to show me as well. It was super cute and funny.  It took us a bit of time to find her pillow, but we did without waking up. Whew.

Our fun morning

Maddy did really well at the doctor's office. She took everything in stride which didn't surprise me too much. We did have an interesting twist - her ear had an infection and her tubes are out of her ears. Wow. But the one on the right side is either sitting in the canal or stuck in the skin due to swelling. So now she gets to have drops for a bit to make sure she's fine. If not, we will have to go back to the doctor to get it out.

Once we were done, we took off and ran a couple errands. We went to the Party Store and she found some really cool stuff for Reagan's graduation. She picked out a crown and sunglasses as well as a dog that you can sign. So cute.

I was pretty impressed with her ability to reason things out. She wanted a dress, then a stuff dog then some other things. I'd give her the "do you want A or B" discussion and she was fine to choose that way. Too bad she always chose the most expensive item. :)

I think she's ready

My big girl is not my little girl anymore. Sniff. She is moving on from Kindergarten to First Grade. She is ready. She asks every day if graduation is near. She is ready for her summer term to start. She is ready for the next year.

Me, I'm not. My little girl is getting big. She's missing three of her baby teeth with one more on the way out. She is getting so big. She loves to wear pretty dresses all the time. She loves her hair in braids. She loves to feel in control and in the lead. She loves to help and be seen as the helper. She likes to feel in charge and important.

My little girl is going to be a force to be reckoned with... she will be in charge. She will lead. She is amazing in every way that God made her.

My baby. My big girl.

Writing already?

Maddy is trying to write already. This past week, she had me write out her name so she could trace it over and over again. Today, she actually wrote the word "no" by herself. It was really cool to watch her do it. She asked how to write No - I gave her the letters. She wrote the N and looked up. I was amazed. I then looked at her and said "you know an O is just a circle". She looked at me and drew a circle. Super proud and way cool for a three year old.

Kindergarten Field trip

Today, Reagan had her celebration Kindergarten Field Trip with her classmates. We went to the Boone County Arboretum and learned about trees and shrubberies and all sorts of stuff.  The kids ran around, collected pine cones and flowers and generally had a great time. They did a fun craft with the teachers and finally ended up on the playground. Reagan let me capture a few pics of her - she is getting so big. It's amazing to think I have a first grader. :) Wow.
