Clingy baby
Maddy really has had a bit of a hard time letting go of me in the mornings. It makes me feel so bad, but I know she has fun at camp. This morning was probably the hardest because she clung to me so hard the teacher had to pry her off of me. Boo. She wanted to stay with mommy. I might have to bug Mimi about watching her for a day.
Volleyball camp
Reagan did really well at Volleyball. She had been so excited about taking the class. I was actually surprised because she had gotten irritated that I signed her up for things like tennis and basketball. But volleyball was apparently okay.
Her coach said that by the last day, she was starting to do much better and getting the hang of some of the drills. She liked playing the games much better than working on the skills, but that doesn't totally surprise me. :) I love the fact that she tried something new.

Not tennis or basketball...
Reagan has been in two different sports camps now. Neither are her favorite. At least we tried. The first one was tennis. It is a bit tough for a six-year old, but we wanted to try it since the cost was so low. She did hit the ball a few times, but told us "no more" because she couldn't get it over the net.
I promised to take her out to the courts near our house to play with her. It just takes time. She didn't go for it. :)
Basketball was a bit of a bust too. She said "I don't like someone telling me to go play". I thought that was hilarious. My little Jim. Ha. She loves to be in control. But honestly didn't see her playing bball, so I didn't mind. I'm just glad she's trying.
But volleyball might be different. We will see. She has been excited about the vball camp all summer and it's next week. I am not holding my breath or anything, but it's cute to see her excited about it. I asked her why. She said "because I can hit a ball over the net and it bonks someone on the head" and just laughed. We shall see.
I do know that she still loves ballet. She is excited about classes starting up again this year. My little ballerina.

Reading Reagan
Reagan is really reading well this summer. While we don't make her read every night like we should, she surprises us every time. I think she secretly reads on her own at night when we aren't looking. She loves the Dr. Seuss books we have and constantly amazes me how well she reads.

Getting caught up
Week of July 13th
Reagan - Basketball camp this week at Silverlake. She is doing well, but has determined she doesn't like being "forced" to do anything. I giggled when she told me that, but totally impressed should could vocalize that feeling.
Maddy is growing up quite a bit. She is starting to show signs of complete dependence and we are constantly fighting the "terrible threes" more than anything. She is full of energy and loves to snuggle.
Tonight, I noticed an odd thing- she had a clump of hair fall out of her head. Not sure what that is about, but I will be paying attention to it for sure.
Week of July 6th -
Reagan & Maddy love Silverlake.
They both had swimming lessons on Monday and did really well.
Piano lesson - it was Reagan's best lesson yet. She amazes me a bit. She can sit down and pretty much play anything the teacher gives her. It's amazing. I can imagine what she'd be able to do if she "wanted to focus" on piano. :)
Frozen at the pool on Friday night - we went over to Silverlake for dinner and swimming. It was nice.
We got there about 8 pm and hung out in the pool. It was freezing. Reagan didn't care - she and Jim went out into the main area in the pool. I was grateful that Maddy had no interest in moving past the kid area. :) Thank goodness. She played around with a few random kids she introduced herself to. Once we realized that the movie screen was way too small for us to enjoy the movie, we packed up and left. Before we left, Reagan tried to climb up the rock wall. She got part way up and decided not to do it - she complained about the harness hurting her legs. Needless to say, the promise of Graters was a better thought to her and we left.
We went to KI on Saturday. We got up and played for about 4 hours. We went through the Dinosaur Park. Maddy was petrified of the fake animals. I will have to say that they were quite life-like. But about half-way through, she got over her fear and started having fun with them all. We did some digging for bones, but basically got some good walking time in. After that, we got some cute face painting done - Reagan got a kitty cat and Maddy got a tiger. It was perfect for their personalities.
We did get Maddy back onto the roller coaster she was afraid of the weekend before. She figured it out at the last minute, but still got on. She did so much better than she did the first time, but still let us know that she was not interested in that ride again.
This weekend, Reagan tried to win another stuffed animal and she did it again. She played the same hoops game and won two animals - one for her and one for Maddy. Good big sister. Most of the rides, she would also help Maddy get situation. So cute to watch her care for Maddy.
Reagan is definitely my roller coaster girls. She loves them. Maddy is not liking them yet. I can't wait to see what she likes next year. We never took Reagan on coaster rides before this year too much. So I wonder if Maddy will change. Regardless, we have fun. Its fun to watch them experience the rides and other stuff. Makes me smile.

Snuggles
Maddy has gotten into the phase of needing someone to sleep with her. She is really struggling to go to sleep and needs that extra little comfort at night. She just gives me that look of "mommy I need you" and I crawl right in bed beside her. I can't help it. I know I shouldn't, but man she is so cute and she won't be in this phase or age very long. I definitely take advantage of as many snuggle moments as I can.

You ate me?
When Missy told the girls she was pregnant, she had to do a little explaining about the fact that she had a baby in her belly. Reagan caught on pretty easily and asked some curious questions. But Maddy was confused a bit. She belted out, "you ate your baby?" and seemed to be really upset about the whole thing.
She tried to explain that all babies have mothers. Reagan did not agree. And that they all grew inside a mommy's belly. When she let her know that she was, at one time, in my belly, she got even more upset - "did mommy eat ME?"
Oh wow.
