Today we had a breakthrough with church. Maddy finally decided she liked it. We purposely did not tell Maddy that we were going to church this morning because we didn't want her to throw her fit. She's been super hard to get to church. We'd get to the driveway to the church and she would start flipping out. This started on Wednesday nights this summer.
This morning, we got to the road and she said "oh we're going to church. good i like church now mommy". What? Really? Well, I'm not sure what happened, but I am ever so grateful that she is happy to go.
She is still a bit shy going into the room, but there were no tears or fighting today.
It was all because of her new friend, Ms. Cindy. She's the woman that helps out in the pre-school wing. We never have spoken too much. But when all this started, she just walked over to me and took care of Maddy. Ever since then, Maddy has been latched on to her for comfort. I'm grateful.

First day of dance
The girls had their firs day of dance class this year. Maddy was super excited about her first class in the "big girl" studio. I picked her up first and got her ready at school. She squealed with excitement. It was so adorable. She bounced and showed off her new leotard. I was so happy that she was excited.
Reagan was excited as well, but in a 6-year old way. She ran back into the after school class and let them all know that she was going to ballet. She was so impressed and happy. I find how they both react so sweet and fun.
We got to the school and Maddy was all giggly while she was waiting. Once the teacher called them back, she stopped in her tracks. She didn't know where to go or what to do. So I called for Reagan and had her take her little sister back and show her the ropes.
Once Maddy saw the mirrors, she was in heaven. :)
Reagan was a little more grown up about it all. She knows the routine, but she still wanted mommy to help her. I'm fine with that. She got ready for class and seemed really confident. It is on a new night - it's not her Saturday class. But I'm glad. She's in with older girls so I think she will learn more. I hope at least.
She was excited and when I picked her up, she was still happy.
Both girls were starving and wiped when we got them home. It was a good first day.

Cubbies success
Tonight was a rough night. I told Jim that I would take Maddy to Cubbies since I didn't have choir. As soon as I walked towards the Children's wing door, she flipped. She started screaming and put her arms and legs out as far as she could.
I had to pry her little hands off the door to get her in and then sat her down next to Jeanine. She and I calmed her down. She told us again how much she didn't like boys. I eventually walked down the hall carrying her - she was not happy. She was screaming like crazy. Not interested at all.
I tried talking to her. She was still very upset. Crying and screaming.
Then Cindy came down the hall and said "I'll take her" and she did.
That was it. She went in kicking and screaming. I left crying.
Apparently she loved church. She told me all about it when she got home. I am so happy and grateful that she enjoyed herself and was able to calm down.

First week of Cubbies
The first week of Cubbies and Awana this year went really well for Reagan and not so well for Maddy. Reagan loved her new classroom. She was so excited about all the new things she got to do. She loved her new teachers and was so happy to be there. I love it when she comes home singing her music.
Maddy, on the other hand, didn't do so well. She actually never made it to Cubbies. She freaked out so bad that Jim didn't drop her off. He came to get me so I could hold her so he could go to the restroom. They sat in the car and watched a movie for an hour and a half. She was happy.
The only thing she kept telling us is she didn't like the boys. Oh my. Well I'm happy to hear she doesn't quite like boys yet. But I felt bad that she couldn't go. Next week!

Pretend time
We are playing while Reagan is in school. We did have played dress up as Princess Diva. Cooking time. Piano - which she proceeded to tell me I can't play. :( Then we played on the trampoline. That was fun. This, of course, was all done in her princess dress that Mimi gave her, plus her rainbow scarf, leopard print jacket, sunglasses and crown.
But today, when I mentioned I was hungry, she said "hey mommy, can I make you a quinoa sandwich"? Whaaa? How funny is that.

No pie?
Reagan surprised me this morning when Jim offered her pie for breakfast. She looked at him like he had three heads and said "No, I want cereal". The pie thing didn't go over well at all. Odd. Maddy ate hers all up. :)
So she is sitting upstairs right now eating her cereal and watching Woody Woodpecker on her iPad. It cracks me up because she loves the older cartoons that I used to watch. At least those are pretty tame.

My belle
For breakfast, my husband decided it was a good idea to give the girls pie. Hmmm. Maddy loved her little lemon pie. Not too surprising though. She ate it all up and enjoyed every bit.
When Reagan decided she didn't want it, Maddy was right there saying "can I have it?" Hee hee. No folks, we didn't give it to her. We aren't that bad.
Little Maddy wanted to go to the basement to play. So we did. For the first time since Christmas, she wanted to be Belle and not Aurora. So strange. She usually is so stuck on the pink dress. But I do have to say she looks really cute. I really wanted to take her and Reagan to the park this morning, but I think they are so scheduled, they really like to just stay home. :)
