Dora crazy

My daughter is Dora crazy! Literally. If she doesn't have a dose of Dora a day, she begs for it. It's comical most the time. I have, unfortunately, helped along in the obsession. I threw her a Dora party for her second birthday and most of her gifts followed that theme. I'm thinking it can't be too bad. She interacts pretty well with the show. She doesn't do the math, but she does count in Spanish and will also answer some things in Spanish as well.

No nap

So it seems during the week that she's just not tired. She won't go to sleep at night at all. So today, we're doing the no-nap thing. It's too wearing to get her to lay down and we know she'll be worn out by evening. Hopefully all that means she will go to sleep easily.

Cathing up

So there are a few things to catch up on since I am being a slacker with my posting.
Today, Reagan hopped up on the piano bench today and started playing the piano and singing. I think she was either singing "Jesus Loves Me" or "Amazing Grace" or some combination of the two. Either way, it was way too cute. Yes - I recorded it.

The most amusing thing she's said lately is "I said no". I haven't quite figured out where she got the from, but she's using it much more lately. I'm guessing school (or me).

Catching up

So I've not been writing as much lately because she's been keeping me so busy.
Over the last week, she's done some pretty neat things.

She counted to six on Monday night while I was reading a Dora book to her which just shocked me. I had not been working on that with her other than reading that book. I'm guessing she's getting that from school. Woo hoo. She's now taking on and off her own clothes with minimal help and Tuesday night she started singing new songs to me before bedtime.

She's also stopped taking naps all together on the weekends. Hmmm. I spoke to her teacher at school and she said "she has to take a nap in the 2-year old room" so I guess she'll have a later bed time for a while. Oh well.

She's gotten really good at the memory game. Lauren came over to watch her on Tuesday while Jim and I went to karate. When I got home, Lauren kept telling me how impressed she was with her memory. We do play that with her a lot - I'm glad I got the game now. :)

She can also now do the wheelbarrow. I can hold her feet and she can walk forward on her hands. Holy cow.

And just today, I looked at her quickly and I swore she grew another year. Sigh..

2-year check up

She was actually really cute today. We got to the doctor's office and she sat up on the table. I grabbed my handy bag of crayons and let her go. She colored the entire piece of paper with every color of the rainbow. By the time the doctor arrived, she had a masterpiece.

The doc interacted with her. She asked all sorts of questions about her drawings and Reagan was all too eager to tell her all about it. She said she was impressed that she knew her colors well, numbers and could actually say full sentences. She even figured out that you could "reason with her". Yep you can - I do it every day. She's a smart cookie - I'm a proud mama. :)

One cool thing - we get to try peanuts, peanut butter, nuts, strawberries - as long as we have Benadryl on hand. Fun. No shellfish until age 3, but that's ok. I'm in no hurry for that anyway. She has yet to show signs of food allergies and I pray that she never gets my allergies. I hope that she gets Jim's which is nothing. Ooo and we get to go to 2% milk. Woo hoo.

So for her stats - apparently Reagan is tall. She is 37 inches to be exact! Holy Cow! I asked the nurse to double check. It was still 37 inches. So in 6 months, she's grown 2 inches and only 1.75 pounds. She is definetly slimming out.

Jesus Loves Me

Tonight, I was able to sing Jesus Loves Me to Reagan for the first time. Not only that, she sang it right back to me as well. How cool! I guess she is learning something at her sunday school class. :)
