Reagan is a reading machine

Reagan totally cracked me up tonight while she was reading. We picked out "Frog and Toad" to read - she loves those stories - and we read every other page together. When she read, she was not just reading in a simple voice, she was putting emphasis on words and putting emotion into it. It just cracked me up. At the end of one sentence, she even smacked her head (like duh Toad that was dumb).  So funny to watch her be able to do that while she reads. So proud of her.

Ready for bed

Tonight, Maddy was really tired. She was grumpy and super independent all night. When she gets like this, it means she has had a long day with no nap (typically) or she didn't eat a good lunch. All of these things are pretty typical of kids at her age.

Usually, with Reagan, when she gets like that, she wants to snuggle. Not Maddy. She wants to be left alone. She wants to have what she wants, when she wants it.  So we try to not make those evenings busy.

After dinner, she got down from the table and went over to her doll house and just played. As soon as she thought Jim was going to take her upstairs to bed, she hauled butt running towards the stairs. She wasn't waiting. She was ready.

But remember, these nights are not snuggle nights either. She just wants bed. No books, no "sleep with me please". Just bed. Good night sweet heart. We love you.

Little artist

When I picked up Maddy today, her teacher stopped me and said "she loves to draw with paper and pen". She really loves to write and her detail with drawings is incredible. We aren't used to seeing that in young children.  She does. Her drawings are super details - flowers have decorated petals and stems. Trees have stuff in them. People are actual people - full bodies, filled in details like eyes, nose and mouth and hands and feet. She even changes color (maybe not the right color) to differentiate between different parts (like shoes and pants). I am so amazed every day by what she does. So fun to watch her grow up.

Stubborn tooth

Her tooth is really ready to come out. It's been hanging on for weeks just waiting to fall out. She can even twist it in her head and it still won't come out. I can see her big tooth coming in behind it - I'm just waiting. The fun part is that it totally grosses Jim out when she plays with it. :)

Tea party, dance party...

Maddy has transformed our upstairs room into a tea party and dance party location. The girls literally pulled the table and chairs out and set up a whole party with their stuffed animals. Good thing we have a ton of chairs up there.  Maddy put her Dora dolls everywhere and then a bunch of others. Once we got all set up, it was dance time. She picked up each doll and animal and did a little dance (and sang) with each one of them. When she was done, it was time for the tea party.  It was so much fun watching her play tonight. She talks to her dolls and takes care of them so well. So cute.

Broken lens

Tonight, I went to take Reagan's picture and I dropped my camera. The lens shattered and I didn't realize it when I continued to take Reagan's picture. She said "mom I don't think that's going to work" and let me know my lens was shattered.

She got so upset. She was very worried about how I was feeling and that she knew how important it was for me to take her picture. I told her it didn't matter, but she knew I was bummed. Such a sweetie.

Sweet play

Today, Maddy and Reagan continued their playtime in the living room. They had their dollhouses all set up and they had so much fun. They had a movie theatre set up on the coffee table and Maddy had a sleeping house set up (not a hotel).  They played between "worlds" as they called it and flew all around the house on their horses.

I love watching the play.
