I took Reagan over to NKU today to audit a violin lesson of a boy who was in the first book. I got there really early, so we walked around. I should say, I had Reagan RUN around so she'd use up some of her energy. (I think it backfired on me and it gave her more)
Anyway, we watched the lesson for the first 15 minutes. She did really well. She watched and played. About 15 minutes into it, Reagan decided that she wanted to lick the mirror. That was about when I called it quits and decided to leave. Hee heee. I was mortified, but I'm sure no one payed attention to her.
The neat thing about it was when the boy was playing the Twinkle Variations, she looked at me and said "Mississippi Hotdog" and proceeded to sing along with him. I was so proud. That was the rhythm that I had taught her to make the music more fun. It worked! She recognized it. I smiled really big I'm sure.
After dinner, we went to the basement. I got her violin out and she was more than eager to play along. She picked it up and put it on her chin. She then leaned her cheek over and placed it "just right". Another HUGE smile. She took the bow from me and put it on the strings and pretended to play. The noise was not so great, but the fact that she got ALL of that from the lesson is so impressive. Not only impressive, but scary. Very smart. Kids at this age pick up stuff so fast. My heart was so full with joy.
